With GM Randy Mueller on his way out, according to a source, Bill Parcells, the Dolphins new vice president of football operations, might have a fight on his hands if he wants to corral an executive under contract with another team. The NFL rule is that if a front-office figure does not have control over the draft and free agency, and he is being offered a job with that final football authority, then his team would be obligated to allow him to interview if permission were requested. But another team could challenge the perception that Parcells is an "owner designee" for H. Wayne Huizenga, which Parcells stresses is his role. Possible candidates to replace Mueller include Jeff Ireland, the vice president of college and pro scouting for the Dallas Cowboys, and New England's Scott Pioli, who happens to be Parcells' son-in-law. Philadelphia GM Tom Heckert should be available, because Andy Reid has final authority with the Eagles. Green Bay personnel analyst John Schneider is well-respected among his peers, and former Texan GM Charley Casserly has an accomplished background and a long-standing friendship with Parcells. Parcells watched Sunday's game with former Green Bay Packers GM Ron Wolf, but when asked if he was coming out of retirement Wolf laughed off the notion. -- South Florida Sun-Sentinel

Casserly would be a laughable choice, he made poor decisions in Washington and even worse one's in Houston.
