I just watched the YouTube highlights of B. Holloman and B. Mcgee. They are very impressive with a lot of speed and ball awareness.

B. Carter - E. Sims
S. Lee - D. Holloman or B. Magee
J. Durant - B. Mcgee or D. Holloman

I believe in due time D. Holloman or B. Mcgee will replace J. Durant. I have not seen him play, but I believe Holloman and McGee has more upside.

I wouldn't rule Ernie Sims out as the SAM.

I really like our linebacker situation if we can stay healthy.

Yeah, it's a pretty good mix between youthful veterans, rookie prospects, and seasoned vets.

Might be the strongest position group on the team. Either that or Wide Receiver.

How quickly we forget Alex Albright..

I really feel he's a good fit for the MLB spot behind Sean Lee. He showed a nice ability to drop back in coverage and good strength at the point of attack against the run.

QB? Romo/Orton is solid as hell. Also CB should be a strong point with Carr/Claiborne in their 2nd years with the team with OScan/Webb/Moore. TE, with Witten/Escobar/Hanna looks really good as well! DL could be very strong if everyone plays up to their potential heights (old guys stay healthy & play their prime games, young guys play better than we expect).

And Durant isn't going anywhere.

Personally, i'd let Durant, Albright, and Ernie Sims battle it out for starting Sam 'backer in training camp and may the best man win.

Where did you hear that?

They said Wilber was moving there who is smaller than Albright and than added Holloman and Magee.

There are not very many 6' 5" 260 4-3 LBs out there.

He can be a back-up at LB in a pinch but all signs point to DE and with his coverage ability a zone blitz could become a staple of this defense.

So basically its just an assumption i guess. I don't think Albright will be moved to DE though, i think he's one of the better LB's we have on this team and i think he'll challange Durant in TC for the starting Sam job. He played better and better last year it seemed like and i really think he could be just as good, if not a better overall LB than Durant. Its not like we broke the bank for the guy, so i really hope its an open competition for that spot.

People need to get to grips with the idea that this isn't Bill Parcells 3-4.

The linebackers who played a position where they were mostly thumpers against the running game like Bradie James and Keith Brooking aren't at all suitable for a Tampa 2. The reason why you can even use guys like that is because the coverage responsibility in a 3-4 is significantly smaller.

A 3-4 linebacker is going to have about 20% coverage responsibility. That's probably too much for someone like James or Brooking. Maybe Albright can get away with that. In the Tampa 2 on the other hand... that jumps up to 25% coverage responsibility. That is 125% of your previous coverage responsibility. That's a lot for a linebacker who is probably only capable of doing 70-80 percent in the first place.

It's possible, but I think Albright showed some skills at LB that Wilber might not possess.

I'm not sure it's just a size game. Could be wrong, though, since Kiffin has relied on smaller linebackers in this scheme.

Smaller linebackers tend to be faster. It's a scheme based on speed and the ability to cover a lot of ground.

We've already got two speedy, instinctual starters in Carter and Lee.. i think Albright has plenty of speed, smarts, and toughness to nicely complement those two.

Like i said though, i really would like to see an open competition for the spot between Durant, Albright, and Sims. Any of those three could be very good options on the strong side.

The scheme calls for 3 linebackers not 2. I'm not sure how Carter and Lee effect the strong side position. It still calls for someone with enough speed and coverage ability...

Im well aware of how many LB's are needed to run a 43 defense, thanks bud.

Im also aware that Albright has the abilities neccesary to play in a 43 defense and he may be just as good, if not better at the position than Durant or Sims would be.. which is one of the reasons i'd like to see a real competition for the spot.
