Factoring in special teams, offense, and defense, what areas do you feel we really have a legitimate chance at upgrading starting day one?

I think special teams often gets forgotten. There are late round guys out there that might not ever be a starter, but can be a role player.

Someone who could fill in for a game or two and not drown the ship so to speak. Guys who are special teams aces. Kicking game included.

What positions would you like to see drafted for depth purposes and special teams?

Got any particular players in mind?

Tyler Lockett, WR ditto above
Stephone Anthony, Jordan Hicks, Taiwan Jones, Martrell Spaight, Ben Heeney, if Sean Lee can't finish the season again
Ali Marpet

Also curious about DT Hardison from ASU as he was a DE in a 3-4 but will play DT in a 4-3 and is very quick like a DE but the size to play inside. He could potentially be a poor-man's Preston Smith at a drastically cheaper price....Smith will go rounds 1-2 while I suspect Hardison will be available after the 4th round.

Someone posted something about Chris Bonner yesterday, QB of Div. II champion Colorado State - Pueblo. Never seen him play, but I did a little research and he is definitely intriguing. Great numbers, all around. Dominated the competition at the Div. II level. Plus, who wouldn't want a ThunderWolf at quarterback?

I like to look for higher upside guys that are available late because they are raw as football players or some other reason that caused them to be available late.

In 2012, Vontaze Burfict was a UDFA. The Cowboys passed on him to draft Caleb McSurdy.

IMO, you can find special teams guys as UDFAs or as journeymen that have been around the NFL for few years.

Dallas has shown to find some quality talent from the 6th - UDFA.....in fact, they have made a habit of finding some very good players late.

This is why I wish we had at least 5 picks in the last two rounds.

Indeed they have.

Honestly, they have been killing it in the draft lately. I love it.

I remember reading a stat that 50 of Green Bay's 53 man roster are home grown talent, acquired through the draft and UDFA.

That's how you build a team.

They did, but teams passed on Burfict because of his off the field issues.

Look for raw players, some who are entering the draft injuered, and guys who jump off the page athletically.

As soon as they selected McSurdy I yelled that they should have taken Burfict.

Character issues for a 7th round pick are really not an issue, IMO. Not only because it's a small investment, but because later round picks don't have any locker room cred. Early round picks have cred in the locker room and can be disruptive if they are bad characters, but late round picks have to prove themselves or they'll be cut quickly (Ahmad Dixon).

Jarvis Harrison OG Texas A&M

Quick and Athletic Guard with a large frame and thick build. even considered more athletic than his team mate Cedric Ogbuehi. His love and desire for the game of football is questioned which is one of the reasons why he has a late round grade on a handful of the draft sites i have visited. would be more than worth the gamble with one of the 7th round picks we have if he is their.

JJ Worton WR, UCF. He will have to go on PUP, but I do think he will become a great return man and should be able to take over the slot duties in a few years.

i feel we just gave up in the draft when we drafted mccurdy, that guy didnt look like a football player at all and he couldnt play either,i think we learned a valuable lesson in that draft.
