Oh ok that is a strategy I think Dallas, will try to employ on the G-Men, with Umenyoria, and Tuck itching to get to Romo, this Sunday.

Both are very fine players and I'm sure Canty will be pumped up coming back to Dallas. I think the line will have their hands full this weekend. WR will need to get in and out of their routs quickly to help Romo out and yes Dallas will need to find ways to beat the blitz when the Giants do send their blitzers

Thank goodness Leftwich isn't very accurate as his guys were running loose in the secondary, and thank goodness their receivers can't catch very well. Thank goodness.

The Buccaneers should have won last Sunday, yes? :)

In a way the Bucs did win in a moral fashion.:)
Yep. Tampa beat the snot out of Dallas. 400+ offensive yards. We stole that game.

Maybe Belichick had something to do with it? :)

I agree. We know NY very well and have been able to put pressure on Eli quite a bit.

Nope. Did I say that?

My response is based on the post about our defense not being tough. I'm the happiest man in the world we won the game, but the fact is, receivers were running loose in the secondary and if you're happy about that, then maybe we should leave our effort the same as we begin to face real football teams coming up.

That is what I notice too that most of Cadillac's big runs came up the middle, with all do respect to Ratliff, he's a little light for the NT spot of the 3-4.

If Wade, is here next season I think he would need to draft a traditional 3-4 NT, like Alabama's Terrence Cody, that is what is missing in this defense a Jamal Williams type of player.

Raiders ran for just under 150 yards against the Chargers last night, most of those runs were right at Jamal Williams.

Again, too early in the season to make a determination that the defens is lousy.

The defense has new personnel. The schemes largely are new to them.

Give it time. The defense may yet surprise even the most optimistic.

I am looking for our defense to play a prime-time game both figuratively and literarlly next weekend.
Look for Ware to assert himself and Sensabaugh to have a great game.

That's what I'm hoping for. We lost (and I use this word loosely with some obvious players) Canty, Ellis, Roy Williams, Kevin Burnett, Anthony Henry, PacMan, & Tank.

We added Sensabaugh, Keith Brooking, Steve Octavien, Igor Olshansky, Jason Williams, Marvin White

Junior Siavii, Anthony Spencer and Bobby Carpenter look to have increased roles as well.

That's a hell of a lot of turnover on one side of the ball and I don't think I even mentioned everyone, whereas our offense remains almost identical less Owens.

It seems reasonable that the defense will take some time to gel, so my hope is that both sides of the ball work hard and improve each week with them both reaching a crescendo in dreaded December and January.

I think our offense has a lower ceiling because they are starting at a higher level and the defense has much room to grow.

Since he's referred to as a genius and this is his area of expertise and he's the defensive coordinator, I'm giving Wade my support and expect him to get his guys to perform at a high level before the season is done.

If he can't, then in my opinion, his time has come and he needs to hit the highway

If the Raiders keep playing like they did last night, they shouldn't be a pushover for anyone

If you interject common sense like "good running teams will find a way to run on you" it limits all the whine opportunities for guys to cry about drafting/signing a fatass to replace Ratliff.

Just pointing out that even having the template for the big NT (Jamal Williams) does not magically solve a team's run stopping problems.

The defense apparently has taken on the demeanor of it's HC/DC. They're soft and gutless, the latter of which, is rather ironic.

You know I wasn't attacking your post when I made my comment right?

I was just saying I thought the Raiders looked pretty good last night

Yep. Just saw an opportunity to point out that its not always the NT fault when a team has trouble w/stopping the run. Not only does the other team get paid too, but other players on the defense have to make the tackles in their assigned gaps.

Once again our defense lays an egg when we need a big stop. Our tackling was pathetic all night, our corners play soft coverage, the only time we see our safetys is when they are getting beat. Neither safety ever makes a play on the ball. We cant get pressure with only 4 or 5 rushers.

I truly believe the decision to not tackle in training camp and in practice is making this defense soft. Jimmy Johnson used to practice hitting and being aggressive. The Steelers practice in pads and hit all the time in practice I'm told, and even their backups make big hits in games.

Unfortunately our defense is taking on the personality of the defensive coordinator and head coach.
