Our lack of a 1st quarter run game...

Yes, I'm bored.

So I figured I'd tally up our 1st quarter rush yards by each RB, since I believe this is the root of our offensive problems in the 1st quarter. (Well, that and penalties)

Julius Jones has had every carry in our 6 opening drives, and has 14 carries for 29 yards, for a 2.1 yard average. His entire 1st quarter rushing output is 23 carries for 63 yards, a 2.7 average.

Marion Barber only has 12 carries in the 1st quarter, for 48 yards... a 4.0 yard average.

I'm not insinuating anything and I am not on either side of the great Jones/Barber debate... just thought I'd pass this along to anyone who cares.

Of course you are taking sides like you have before. Ever bother to look at the blocking? It sucks early in the game.

The blocking is fine throughout. JJ has developed a pattern. Here it is.

early on: Run timid. Only hit the hole if it's the size of Saturn. If the hole isn't monstrous run into the pile. Fall down and then get up and run back to the huddle.

after MB3 comes in and shows how it's done: Run for my life because every game I know I am on the verge of losing my starting job.

It's so blatantly obvious. MB3 motivates JJ to run harder after the first two rotations are out of the way. JJ gets paid a lot of money. He shouldn't need any motivation.

We have seen the idea of Marion coming in later when a defense is getting wore down.

I am not sure it would work just as well in the reverse for Julius.

The argument is made by some in the media that Julius has that threat of taking it the distance where Marion does not.

If that indeed is the case than why not let Marion start more and wear down defenses and when they are wore down let Julius run some and try to break a few big plays.

Not saying Julius would do that but just contemplating on the reasons why the media and others say Julius is still the starter.

In other words just playing devil's advocate.

Hahaha "like I have before"? You clearly have me mistaken for somebody else. I've avoided the Jones/Barber debate like the plague.

Way to unmask yourself as a Julius homer, though.
