Darren Sproles expected to leave Chargers as free agent?
No one knows which team Darren Sproles will be playing for next season, but with each passing game it seems he makes himself a more valuable commodity. On the verge of becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2009, Sproles produced possibly his best performance as a Charger last night in San Diego's 52-21 victory over the Denver Broncos that clinched the AFC West title. The Chargers' brass must be mulling the options. It is virtually guaranteed the team won't protect Sproles with a franchise tag because he would earn around $8 million next season. So Sproles is likely to test the free-agent market, with the Chargers going up against other bidders. Sproles was impressive on kick returns from his rookie season, but he's done more subbing for LaDainian Tomlinson this season, and he has responded by proving to be a multifaceted threat. -- San Diego Union-Tribune

I heard he wanted to become a starter, so I wouldnt be surprised if he went to the Lions.

Nice pipe dream... but we have too many other holes that need to be addressed as well as taking care of our own (i.e. DWare). Besides that, did you forget we already have Felix Jones? He did a pretty good job when he was in there returning kickoffs.

Not a chance in the world unless you're cutting/or making inactive one of the 3 out of Barber, Jones, or Choice.

Besides once Jones is healthy again he can return kicks for us.

Of the 3, I would be most comfortable letting Barber go.

Choice, but I'm not saying ditch Barber personally. It looks like they could have waited to offer that big contract, but that's hindsight talking.

As noted, no spot for Sproles. We need to turn our attention elsewhere - our secondary is a shambles still, and we still could use some DL/ILB help. We are loaded at RB and Choice and Felix both should get a look at the return game.

Giving a big contract to Barber was not a bad idea but you see what you can get in the draft with RBs. Doesn't take them long to get the idea.

Are we going to have a salary cap?

I like it.
Have Phillips vouch for him, then when he gets here fire Phillips.

As for roster space, cut Stanback, he was our KR
