Our pass rush is putrid

I would love an opportunity to draft Fairley out of Auburn and put him at DE. He'd play the run and still be an impact in the pass rush. That 3-4 DE's aren't supposed to have an impact is total BS...if your MAN Ware is being doubled, then someone has to push the pocket and out of 40+ dropbacks a game, even 3-4 DE's should win a 1-1 battle a few times and get a hit on the QB or rush a throw.

You keep throwing out how I implied Dallas had great pass rush. Thats most idiotic thing to say. Just read my posts. But seems like Facts are not strong suit, but throwing out names and calling names seem to be yours. I pretty much shot down every one of your claims, but you keep scatter shooting everywhere.

You can't keep one thing straight or keep one fact straight. Its almost like arguing with a 2 year old . Actually scratch that, I can at least reason with 2 year old.

Now I will be off lead some of my followers off the cliff, while you keep dreaming somehow you made sense :D

Alright seriously now.
Go back and watch the 4 pick plays, it's on youtube. I told Childsplay or whatever his name is earlier today in this thread that I could see on the 1st Lee pick, the pick 6, that Ware bull rushed the lineman back into Manning, don't know if he got touched or not, perhaps he felt some pressure. Either way the the throw was there for the WR had Lee not jumped the route. I credit Lee with reading that and going to get it. Lee's gonna be special I think/hope. That's the only one I can somewhat agree with you on. But the other 3 were just Manning making bad reads/decisions.

Having said that I don't care what anyone says, our pass rush in general is pathetic, yes thru the year they've had a few moments but overall our players aren't performing when it comes to that. Whether it's scheme, lack of depth leading to fatigue or whatever, they are just warm bodies out there most of the time.

Fire away!

Ok, since you have come down from name calling, I will try to explain once more. Yes, Pass rush is not good ever since Pasq took over. Yep, one of the reasons is fall off from Spencer big time. But other reason is, Pasq is not blitzing much and under Wade blitzes this year were predictable as told by numerous teams that media interviewed.

So could the team get some players that generate Pass Rush? Heck every team wants that of course. But unless in this NFL, where teams are pass happy, you cannot be a great pass rush team on consistent basis without some creativity to it. Wade was great at that his first 3 years.

Lastly against Colts as Pasq pointed out in his interview, he did that on purpose because of how Manning burns blitzes. I don't agree with his approach, but results prove he might have been correct. But I ain't happy with passive D though. But I do understand right now, he is working with some players who are not playing like they did last year.

Anyway, they did put pressure on Manning this past game, not enough for sure, but they did and some of it caused TOs. But not all four were due to pressure either.

Having said that, if Pasq plays like that against Vick, I am pretty sure Vick will throw all over Cowboys too. Vick is not that great against pressure, so Pasq has to bring pressure, if not sacks.

I noticed one where the OT was backed up very close to Manning and Manning may have even been jostled slightly. There may have been another. If so, that's good, but it really doesn't constitute much of a pass rush in th context of a game where Manning was essentially able to ptich a tent in the pocket on almost every pass play.

They were all three step drops. Manning barely threw anything past 15 yards before the drive to tie the game. He threw it no matter what too. He threw it despite coverage or whether the receiver ran the right route.

You do not understand Manning's game.

He'll have to assign a spy for Vick like Wannstedt used to do with Cunningham. Who knows if it will work though. This next statement should shock you. I'd feel uncomfortable if the rush Vick, atleast from around the outside where a run lane can open up, he'd gash us for 20-30 yards everytime, if he chose to. They need to find a way to get pressure while keeping him in front of them by beating the O-line one on one with technique, if they even know what technique is.

According to some, our defensive line is getting tremendous pressure and our cornerbacks are locking down opponents.

Please disregard everything you've seen and all that you know.

My two cents, for what its worth:

From what i've seen, Ware in the past 5 or 6 games before this one, hasn't been getting anywhere near consistent pressure. He's been single blocked and still hasn't been able to be disruptive.

The game against Indy? Ware was definately getting pressure, even though the rest of our pass rush was largely AWOL. I saw him make a few nice bull rushes to collapse the pocket almost into Manning, and he made a few nice plays in the run game as well.

As for our pass rush overall.. it desperately needs improvement going into next season if we want our defense to play better. A better pass rush is where it all starts, it'll make our pass defense better and it'll make our secondary start looking much better as well.

We have to be able to get more of a push if we are going to stay in the 34. We need a solid, space eating NT, and we need to move Rat to DE. We need to get to the point where we can get pressure with only 4 guys rushing on a pretty consistent basis. We can't depend on having to blitz 3 or 4 guys if we want any kind of pressure, as we have to now. We'll never be very successful or dominant until we fix this.

I've never liked the 3-4 much, atleast not for the Cowboys, so it wouldn't bother me to go back to the 4-3. That way we won't need a sumo NT.
