Coutney Brown intrigues me the most.
This kid is EXTREMELY RAW, but is a definite sleeper pick.

At a Pro Day held in March at San Jose State, Brown posted the fastest 40-yard dash time of 4.32 seconds as well as the highest vertical jump at 41.5 inches. In addition, Brown recorded the second-fastest 10-yard time of 1.46 seconds and was No. 4 in the short shuttle (4.07 seconds).

Brown was recruited as a wide receiver but moved to the defensive side of the ball after his freshman season at Cal Poly.

Typhus, I agree that Brown is intriguing. He is a shut down type, I hear.

I like that Brown seems to be SMART. Sometimes these workout wonders flame out because they don't get how hard you have to work (Walter Thomas), they aren't sharp enough to understand schemes, or they just generally don't understand what it means to be a professional. I don't think Brown will have that problem.

Hopefully he pans out and becomes a good nickleback in the near future....Glenn's time is about up.

Brown has good size and athleticism....could be a good slot CB....

Ireland's description hit it on the head: He's a height/weight/speed guy that showed flashes of physical dominance in D2. He said with those guys, however, you want to see more consistent physical dominance at the lower level.

For example:

Week 1 - Allowed 2 catches for 7 yards.
Week 2 - Allowed 0 catches for 0 yards.
Week 3 - Allowed 0 catches for 0 yards.
Week 7 - Allowed 1 catches for 7 yards.
Week 9 - Allowed 2 catches for 8 yards.
Week 10 - Allowed 2 catches for 19 yards.
Week 11 - Allowed 0 catches for 0 yards.

Now that's dominance. Teams simply weren't throwing at him, which explains his low INT numbers for '06 (0) as compare to '05 (7).

But in his other 4 games he allowed 22 passes for good amount of yardage. That's not horrible, but it's not dominance. He was just inconsistent in that regard. Maybe it's concentration (a euphemism for laziness). Maybe it was minor injuries. Whatever it is, that's why he was drafted so low.

He has phenomenal physical skills. He appears to have the recognition skills. He just needs to improve his technique and show that he can consistently play at a high level. I think there's absolutely zero chance he doesn't make this roster.

I think Brown has all the talent and certainly he's got the smarts to become a quality NFL starter. The only questions about him certained on quality of opponents he faced and his speed; of course questions re his speed was answered at the pro day workout. Now all we have to do is find out how well he can do against the big guys and how long he will take him to adapt. Certainly expect him to make the team cause he's got a lot of upside vs Nate Jones. But long term, I think Brown beats out Glenn in 08 & eventually beats out Henry as well.

As for the other 7th rounder, I also think he's more of a nickle CB but apparently he is more polished at that position then is Brown right now.

I hope he can transition to the NFL quickly and displace Henry -- although they have him listed as a left corner, not a right corner....but Newman isn't going anywhere and we need help on the other side.

I wonder what his confidence is like. That is a key ingredient to being a great corner.

Everyone is hoping for the next Cornell Green or Everson Walls. Well, at least I'm looking for them. I'm hoping Brown covers like Deion and hits like Lott. I wouldn't overlook Hall either. He needs weight.

Let's check his thyroid.

Hard not to like a prospect like Brown. He's got everything going for him...ideal size, speed, smarts, character and versatility.

He's my favorite rookie and I'll be rooting for him.

This is a situation where the coaches have to take over. Who will devolope this great talent and turn him into a stud?
He has all the tools, now he needs to get the technique down and get it done.

Maybe Roy can throw him a bisquit or two, he defintely needs to fill his plate in the chow line during training camp this summer.

I thought Watkins was light, but I doubt Balls' frame could even draw a shadow on a cloudless day.

I agree with you guys, I think this guy might be the steal of the NFL draft, kinda like when colston went to saints last year as a # 7 pick. This guy might be the cornerback steal of the century if developed right.

Maybe Newman can teach him a thing or two, maybe even get Deion Sanders to come in and teach him some things,

I cant think of the guys name, but he played for the Giants in their super bowl run in 2000, he was a 7th round draft choice too, and giants took him on his speed, size, etc, and he turned out good, maybe we finally get another good CB, since Aaron Glenn is getting older and Henry isnt well known for his deep speed.

Brown definetly has all the physical intangables needed to play at the next level, but before he can even sniff a spot on the nickle D, he needs to become a special teams demon for this team.
The guy can flat out fly, and has some nice size for a DB.

I don't remember where I read it but I think Brown hasn't given up a touchdown to his receiver in two seasons. I think that shows consistency. He can help this defense eventually. I definitely like the pick, I think we may eventually find him to be the best day two pick of our draft!
