Jerry will make some kind of splash early, he has too many season ticket holders who are waiting to see what they'll do before they pay their PSL for the year. I could see something big happening in the first 72 hours.

I'll take the under. I think we do something minor with a FA nobody's discussed prior to Day 6.

If we do have any cap money, my #1 target would be jarius Byrd

Reports are that buffalo will not pursue him and the browns haven't contacted him yet so he might be available at a reasonable price

Fix a glaring hole on defense, not have to reach in the draft as there is no can't miss FS, longer learning curve than DL and this suddenly makes safety a position of strength

I read on ESPN that Byrd wants 9M a year. Wanting and getting are two different things, but wow that's a big number.

Like you said, want and get are 2 different things but he is young and could really be a long term answer at a critical position that we have been struggling to fill

Too many teams want byrd were not getting him. I dont expect dallas to sign anybody for at least a month. When they do itll be a guy we never heard of.

Well...we can still hope right. Byrd would indeed simplify things for the Cows on Draft Day. The B-B-Byrd is the Wyrd!

and if a season ticket holder is waiting on JJ to see what FA is signed before they would pay. They have a lot of other issues other than paying their PSL's.

Eric Berry got 5 years $60 mil with $34 mil guaranteed. I'm sure Byrd's agent will be telling every team he is the best S in football and should be paid that way. Now Berry was significantly younger so maybe he got an extra year, but I don't think the $ is going to be very different. Byrd will probably get 4 years 50 something million with 30 something million guaranteed.

I'm about as big of a supporter of upgrading FS as you'll find, but Byrd is unreasonable and out of our price range. I think there are some pretty decent "stop gap" type opinions that can do the job for a reasonable amount of $ in this years FA class. And yes, much better options than Will Allen

Agree with your points about cost

I am hoping that market forces will dictate a lower price point, we'll see

The issue with a stop gap is that you need guys you are developing that will be ready soon and both the guys we have are more SS than FS , so i don't see the future FS on the roster, so it will be another rinse and repeat year if we don't spend some resources to address it

I know at least five in my section alone that are trying to justify the cost, and have not made their PSL payments. There is no penalty for waiting, they'll simply send you an email every couple of days, and give you the occasional call. I can't blame people for taking the "wait and see" approach.

Thanks, I didn't know there wasn't a penalty. Or I would have waited too. But signing of FA's wouldn't have been the reason. I am trying to justify the cost myself. Only because I started traveling for my work again, and end up selling the tickets or a few times had to give them away. Especially the pre season games.

I emailed them asking if there is a list of people wanting to purchase them, and what my balance is. I have not received a reply. Which is pretty crappy. Seems I get a new sales rep every few months. Will need to e-mail again, maybe a previous rep.
There are a few websites that deal with buying and selling PSL's.

I agree that the FS we need isn't on the roster right now. And as far as "stop gap" I meant someone like Chris Gamble or Chris Clemons. Guys that have proven they are at least average-above average starting player a in the NFL that aren't old or necessarily expensive. Guys you can play for 2 years no problem.

I have a pretty open line of communication with my rep, and she was telling me that there are still "plenty" of seats available. They'll tell you that they are at 98% capacity, but the reality is, they are struggling. The appeal of the new stadium has worn, and the unfortunate truth is that the stadium just isn't a good place to watch a football game. My reason for waiting honestly doesn't have a lot to do with FA's, I just want to see if Jerry Jones is starting to get it. The way he handles Ware is going to speak volumes in my mind. I've been legitimately unhappy with the direction the team has been going in over the past few years. Nothing would make me happier at this point than a complete overhaul and release of any player over the age of 30.
