Overnight, this team just became a running offense...

That's the only thing I can relate to the events that occurred last night.

Felix Jones as the starter
Marion Barber as the finisher, 3rd downs, and 3rd and 4th quarter
Tashard Choice as the change of paceback.

Run the ball 35 times per game, every game.

I hope thats what Jerry intended when he wanted to make the team Romo friendly. Cause Witten is going to face numerous more double teams, as is Roy Williams. Hopefully our linemen transform into great run blockers over night too.

Don't you think Felix is better suited to be out there on 3rd downs...unless it's 3rd and very short?

Good that's the way it oughta be. If Witten gets double team, throw it to Austin, Crayton, Roy, Bennett, Felix, Marion, Tashard. Spread the ball. Romo and Garrett won't have to worry about force feeding the crybaby anymore and won't have to worry about when they go to the sidelines hearing someone whining about not getting the ball.

I sure hope so. That's what I've been calling for the past 2-3 years. We won't win big until we start running the ball effectively.

I disagree.

You'll see a more balanced offense yes, but not run-heavy.

I think this will make us more balanced, for sure, with a slight edge still being toward the passing only because Williams can make plays, Austin I believe will continue to show he can, obviously Witten and Bennett can, and I believe this year you'll see them get the ball into the hands of Felix more often in the passing game as well.

I can't see it working not in the current offense every time this team lined up for a 3-1 and tired to run it it seemed like it got stuffed cause the defense stacked the line. this won't only happen on 3rd and short anymore it will be every down. And with every team in the east seemingly improving their D line it would have been hard enough to run with the threat of a passing game without it it's going to be damn near impossible

I am hoping to see more flat/swing passes to all three running backs. All of 'em can catch the ball and 2 can busta move.

Barber is the starter because he's being paid as a starter. Garrett needs to look at the Giants to see how to run an offense with 3 rb options. Felix needs to be used as a wr more than as a rb. You get him in space on a LB and it's 6.

I agree with us running the ball more... It would rest our defense and open up the passing game... I just hope that Garrett will stick to this and not get the itch to pass all the time...

I do think Barber should still be the starter though... With Jones and Choice to spell him he should be able to finish the games.... We have one awesome TE and an on the verge of being good one behind him, we should be able to maul the opposing teams and become what BP wanted us to be, a time consuming offense and a dominating def...

The Titans & Ravens ran the ball well last year, and the Cowboys have better options in the passing game than either of those teams. We should be able to run the ball effectively. 1st things 1st, JG needs to quit being so passing happy with the offense.

Yea. If there is some positive about getting rid of TO its that we'll probably be more run first than pass first. I don't like watching that type of football but it will win you games.

The Titans have the best coach in football IMO, the Ravens have pretty good coaching too, we don't

You're making one fatal assumption, as is everyone else here that's pushing for a heavy dose of running game...

This offensive line is not a good run-blocking line-- It's pretty much average at best. It's a much better group of pass blockers.

With Romo having as much success as he's had as a passer and the Oline not being a dominant run blocking group-- you just aren't going to see this team run the ball 40 times a game... It just isn't going to happen.

Agreed, I also felt we were a passing team first and then ran the ball. Now we're ****ed.

Jason Garrett re-did the passing offense when he came here, and pretty much left the running game to Sparano. Passing is his bread-and-butter. Jason Garrett didn't run, because he chose not to run.

the Pittsburgh game. That was when I think it became apparent that this team *MUST* have a run-oriented offense.

Not just because of Choice's 88yds against the #1 D, but because of Romo's INTs, fumbles and ducks.

Not going to happen.

Romo's problems were due to two things... The "unhinging" of the Oline in pass protection due to the loss of Kosier and Holland.

And of course the weather. That was not good passing weather. Come'on dude! It was December in Pittsburgh for cryin out loud.

You can't base this offense and it's ability or inability to pass the ball on the Pittsburgh game.

Jerry has said that this offense is going revolve around Romo-- And that's not handing the ball off 40 times a game.
