Overshown in the 3-4

Yes. It is also a position we need to fix. He was also the 2nd best safety in this years draft. He fits Parker's defense like a glove.
So how many players do you make a massive reach on just because they ran fast and fit the scheme?
Isn't this how we got Tony Dixon back in the day?

Lol,
I believe the original sports media page that reported moving Liafau stated they were going to try to add 10-15 pounds to his 240 lb frame.
Where on Overshowns 220 lb frame do you see where they can add the 30lbs to get him in the range of 250?
Both are going to be outside.

Here's a scenario: Get a quality edge rusher and safety in FA before the draft; then trade the 12 and 20 to move up for a top player like Styles. Three players instead of four, but all high quality, no risk players for being competitive NOW. Thoughts?

LOL picking Thieneman is not a massive reach. He does everything and more a safety in Parker's defense can do. I don't know where you get the idea that he's going to be a Tony Dixon.

I guarantee he won't last till pick 20 because some smart team like the Eagles, Rams, or Minnesota will pick him.

Styles is worth trading up for if he gets past pick 5. However, picks 12 and 20 are too high a price to pay, given how many holes we have on defense. There are other players we can target in the draft and address our linebacker spots through free agency. We are not guaranteed to get Styles.

Also, isn't that what you want in a draft? To get the fastest player that fit the scheme? What you said doesn't make sense.

I think we can still acquire a top safety, a corner, and a pass-rushing linebacker. The best players who fit our scheme will be available late in the first round and in the second round.

Because Dillon Thieneman ran a 4.3, his stock has risen. I might want to use our 12th pick on him and let someone else select Caleb Downs.
I’m down with Thieneman at 12. The guy can play first and foremost.

NFL teams and fans, or maybe it’s just fans who do it, but they need to stop slotting players to a particular slot and holding fast to it. ‘Well so and so should be slotted here for whatever reason’ or ‘well, so and so is this so he can probably be had in a trade down’

No, just select the guy.

If they want the combine numbers to justify in their minds to take a player higher than they are ‘slotted to’ than so be it.

Not only can dude man rack up the college production, but he looks the part on tape too. That’s BPA in my opinion. He also so happens to fit a very big need and might be the key to unlocking Parker’s defense.

I was just listening to Parker talk about he just doesn't want fast quick guys, but guys that are students of the game/physical and fast. Being just fast means nothing

I watched a film on him, and he seems like a more athletic Cooper DeJean. Having a safety who can cover deep, play the run, and run a 4.3 would be an impact player at safety—something we’ve never had before.

He is definitely the BPA, and I have him selected over Caleb Downs.

Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean are not only good players, but they are also fast. Mitchell clocked in at 4.3, and Cooper DeJean at 4.4.

Especially at the corner and safety positions, I think we neglected the importance of speed so much that it caused us to reach for players on defense.

He just excelled at the Combine. Fast, I think like a 4.31. Great safety material.

Not since Darren Woodson.

We as fans have been anticipating his replacement for a long time now. I’d definitely prefer Dallas to select a Darren Woodson type at 12. That would be a steal.

I think especially with quinn he just wanted bigger guys, but yes I agree with this! We also need guys with instincts

I both agree and disagree with you. Defense will be a main priority for most teams.

However, this is a very deep draft for safeties and cornerbacks. If we trade down one of our picks for a second- and third-rounder, we can still get good value. Frankly, because this draft is deep at cornerback and safety, I would give up future picks to acquire more draft capital this year.

I don't think we need to trade down. I'm not in favor of spending draft capital to trade for one player. I frankly want Dilon Thieneman over Caleb Downs.
There’s probably 5-6 good safeties in this draft. The problem is we don’t have a second. An early second would be really nice in this draft. But don’t see how we could add one and still get 2 starters with our 2 first
