The NoMo RoMo bandwaggon is full.
There will be alot of overworked garbage men is Dallas this week. Can you imagine how much a million tear-soaked Romo jersery’s weigh?
I hate to be the voice of reason, and I hate to be the one that says I told you so, but I am. Romo didn’t lose the game on that fumbled snap. He lost the superbowl in the month of December and more specifically when he looked like a division II QB in the game tonight. It is hard to win a playoff game on the road in the NFL. It is even harder when you are an inexperienced QB with average talent.
The defense held their end of the bargain. The special teams even scored a touchdown. It was Romo’s inaccuracy and weak arm that kept the Boys from picking up big chunks and controlling that game. The Seahawks played bad, they even tried to give it away. The inexperience of Romo was the key that kept the Cowboys from taking advantage and living to fight another day.
I told you so. I said back during half time of the first Giants game that the success of this team would be measured at the end of the superbowl. This was not a rebuilding year. Like Drew Bledsoe or not, it would have been nice to see the season play out with Drew, T.O. and Glenn getting the kinks worked out. The inexperience at the QB position was highlighted tonight. In other words, Parcells took a veteran team with superbowl potentional and chose to make a rebuilding year at the most important postion on the team. It was a bad decision and he failed.
After Romo’s disaterous December, Parcells was quoted as saying that his QB just need to “drive the bus” and not try to make to much happen. Well Parcells, wouldn’t it have been nice to have a veteran driver instead of a kid? Parcells also changed his story about what he wanted Romo to do. He claimed that a QB trying to make to much happen always results in worse play than the opposite.
The question I have for Parcells is why did you make a switch to a “more mobile” QB with moxie if you just wanted him to act like the veteran you have sitting on the bench? You cant have it both ways. This is the point where parcells would like to be in the room with me so he could try to intimidate me and change the story like he does to the reporters at his press conferences to keep the heat off of himself.
Romo supporters are also changing their story faster than John Kerry at a swiftboat convention.
October: “Romo gives us the best chance to win now”
December: “Romo is inexperienced, it will take him time to get better”
January: “It is important to see how he bounces back from playing horrible”
Translation: Romo wasn’t ready to make the superbowl run.
There is a very good chance that we have seen Parcells coach his last game in Dallas. I can read between the lines and I realize that Parcells putting Romo in at QB was a shot at Jerry Jones for signing T.O. without his best wishes. I think Parcells needed to go deep into the playoffs to save his job. Of course the official line will be that Parcells is retiring, but the truth is that his office had been re-assigned some time in December. The parcells watch over/under is set at 11 am central time on Monday.
With the impending coaching change, it is also very likely that Romo will have started his last game with a star on his helmet. This is very good news for the Cowboys. If a new coach can come in and manuver some trades and FAs, then the Cowboys might have a shot at the Superbowl next year.
As far as this year, it was over when Romo threw that pass directly to the Giants on his first pass of that game.
I was right, Bledsoe was right and most importantly, Jerry was right.
Note to Parcells and Romo: Don’t go away mad, just go away. Also I would like to wish good luck anyone but the Giants, Eagles and Saints. As tradition for America’s Team biggest fanatic, I will not watch another game once the boys are eliminated.
I still love the Cowboys and I'm getting ready for Next Year! Go Cowboys!
