Hate! Hate! Hate!
Irving, Texas - If the Broncos weren't convinced their dance with Terrell Owens turned out for the best, they are now.
Thursday morning, on the second day of joint workouts with the Dallas Cowboys, the teams were on separate fields, stretching. It was a sedate Texas morning.
Then T.O. struck. Twenty minutes into the session, Owens sauntered out to the field to join his teammates.
Owens became a distraction, again. New coach Wade Phillips had to talk about it. Owner Jerry Jones had to talk about it. Owens declined to.
Players can't be a minute late to practice, let alone 20. But are we surprised? No. T.O. always seems to cause problems.
That's why most people in the Broncos organization didn't want Owens when the team, desperately in need of a playmaker before the 2006 season, met with him. The talks never went far because the Broncos weren't prepared to pay Owens much because of his off-field issues.
But they were tempted. Witnessing Thursday's T.O. show should help prevent future temptations when the Cowboys become the third team to tire of Owens' act.
