Owens doesn't return for afternoon practice

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Terrell Owens left the Philadelphia Eagles' morning practice Thursday and did not return for the team's afternoon session after injuring his left groin.

During the morning practice, Owens walked to the medical tent before being carted off the field. Coach Andy Reid said he is day-to-day and dismissed any suggestion that the injury might not be genuine.

"It's a legitimate injury," Reid said. "This guy would never do that. He's not that type of guy; he would never go in that direction."

The disgruntled All-Pro is still hoping the Eagles will redo his contract. Owens is just beginning the second year of a seven-year deal worth just under $49 million.

Reid said groin problems are a chronic condition for Owens.

"I'm being cautious with it. I don't want it to get worse," Reid said. "It's a constant battle."

Earlier, Owens made a pair of long receptions, including a tough juggling catch in which he grabbed the ball while he was on the ground and then spiked it behind his head. After his second catch, Owens tossed the ball into the crowd.

Last season, Owens had 77 receptions for 1,200 yards and a franchise-record 14 touchdowns before severely injuring his ankle late in the season. He missed the final two regular-season games and the first two playoff games before returning for the Super Bowl, in which he had nine receptions for 122 yards.

I just lost a lot of respect for Reid. If must be degrading to have to be a sycophant to someone like TO. I don't care how good he is, I would at least keep my dignity by not saying something so obviously stupid so that TO won't get mad and stomp his feet! Can you see Landry, or Lombardi, or Ditka, degrading themselves because of this guy?

TO is like Crack! You pay some sh*thead money and he screws up your life! He destroyed the 49'ers and now he is destroying the Iggles. Now if we can only get New England to pay him a lot of money!

Hey, I got an idea, why don't we all pay $49 million to have ourselves injected with a malignant tumor!

I'm not sure TO destroyed the 9ers. The Yorks do that well enough on their own :yourock:

Out here inthe State of Fruits and Nuts, they actually were touting the 49'ers to do well TO's last season. They admitted they were getting older, put key folks were coming back form injuries and, after all, they had two pro bowlers in TO and Garcia!

So, he may not have caused to inevitable, he certainly did hasten it! 'Sides, it is the one thing he ever did that I liked!
