Owens needs to play better period.

I like the guys playmaking ability and he has made some excellent catches, BUT

I think he now has 8 drops a few of which can be attributed to hearing footsteps and a couple of which maybe can be attributed to running upfield before the catch. He has dropped 2 touchdowns. He dropped the 4th down play that was even more important and could also have been a touchdown.

That is too many drops. And don't forget the two major "slips" he has had when the ball was there and he slipped on wet field, both feet going right out from under him both times. That is two more I could add to the "drops" category where he had the chance to make the play and it wasn't QB's fault. Add 2 TD's as part of maybe 5 of those 10 drops/slips and his stats start to look a whole lot better and this team is maybe 1 game better in win column.

I give him benefit of doubt due to rust and slow chemistry with Bledsoe as well as the broken hand didn't help for that game and maybe the next.

But all in all he can do better.

To be fair he has been open for a few more TD passes that Dallas missed him on or didn't have time to get the ball out to him. Bledsoe's arm got hit on 3 or 4 occassions when TO was open.

So the key is, if Romo can find him visually quicker and get the ball out, that will help. Romo has a faster release and seems to checkdown his receivers very quickly and make those decisions better than Bledsoe, and obviously much faster and better than Henson did. Also, I think Romo will look to TO first a bit more than Bledsoe did who used Glenn as his security blanket.

If Romo can buy a bit more time by moving either inside the pocket stepping up or dodging arms, OR by rolling out or escaping the pocket, there will be a huge benefit to TO, Glenn, and Witten in terms of having that extra second to get open and make the move/plant to get seperation. Going back to watch film and our offense was a 1/2 second behind making some potentially big plays because we just couldn't buy enough time.

But Owens needs to cut his drops in half and he has to make those big plays when the game is on the line, not just in vanilla games and catch up period. We do need to get him involved earlier in game.

New season starts Sunday. Exciting, but a bit scary. But hopefully the oline and TO and everyone uses the game as a fresh slate and we can start building for a playoff run. This team needs to come together a bit more.

I believe T.O. is playing good and hard.....you have to consider the hamy; broken wrist, and leaning a new offense.

Yes, I know he has dropped some balls.....so did Mr. Rice

Don't you expect on field excellence from this guy though? I think he's playing "good" to. I just have higher expectations that that. I did say that to this point he's had to adjust and fight those injuries, BUT, I guess the question is would you be happy with more of the same for the rest of the season. If he doesn't play "better" for whatever reason, I think we will struggle more than expected.

Rice did not drop many and seldom in critical situation. TO is a very good player but we need him to step it up. Not excuses of why he hasn't.

The same case can be made for terry glenn also......as you previously stated all the problems owens has been having and how he needs to get better lets compare him to his buddy on the other side of the field...

Terry Glenn 29 catches 378 yards 13.0 average per catch and 3 touchdowns
Terrell Owens 28 catches 375 yards 13.4 average per catch and 5 touchdowns

so if your gonna make the case for owens you gotta make the case for glenn also

if these two get better, which they may if romo pans out to be what everyone is expecting him to be this could very well be the best quaterback/receiving core in the league.....

hopefully this will be the case....we shall see sunday night

No doubt Glenn needs to step up but then Glenn did not question Why am I here. TO was brought here and paid big money to be a big time playmaker he needs to get it done especially when he is getting more oppertunities than Glenn

I like what T.O. said in his locker room address today, he took full responsibilty for the crucial 4th down drop, the guy supports Romo as QB so we shall see....

I would like to see Owens do more too.

But I would also like to see the OLine do more.

I would like to see our ST returns do more.

I would like to see the run D do more.

I would like to see the coaching staff be a little more imaginative.

You're saying that like the rush defense is last in the NFL or something...

Did I ? Really ?

Funny, I don't read "last in the NFL" anywhere.

They didn't stop Barber or #27, whatever his name is.

When I say I would like to see the run D do more, I actually meant that I would like to see the run D do more.

Hope that clears that up.

Owens is there; the coaches and QB's have to find him. You bought the thoroughbred and you ride him. It's that simple.

Then he needs to stop dropping balls. When your always wanting the ball hollering on the sideline about wanting the ball then make the catch when it is there or shut up about it.

Well, Owens had gotten a full third of the balls Romo has thrown so far. (according to Mort on ESPN just now).

I have no problem with him getting that many passes thrown his way..leaving Terry, Jason, Patrick, Fasano, JJ, MBIII, Hurd et al to share the other two thirds.

I don't care if he gets a full HALF of the passes thrown, but just don't 1) cry that you're not getting thrown to enough and 2) try to make a special effort to resist short arming, "slipping", and drops.

And try to have a better day than Key on Sunday.

Not sure where the drop statistics are coming from, but TO has way more than 4 drops.

2 Td's were knocked out of his hands or dropped. The 4th down play. 1 play where he jumped up in a game, and 3 or 4 other plays were he got his hands on it and it came out (although they were tough ones, they were catchable particulary since he's caught tougher).

During Monday night game they showed stats where he had 6 drops already before or at least not including the ones he dropped in game I think.

And maybe one could add in the two slips where the ball was heading to the right spot. Nah, that would be spiteful and TO is sensitive, we don't want to make him cry.

Catch the damn ball, Mr I want to be "the Man". Then we'll all be happy!

funny thing is, if you followed Owens throughout his career, he's been known to drop a few. He doesn't have the best hands in the league.

Last I saw, TO has 5 drops thus far this year, which is more than he has had in either of his past 2 seasons.
