For first time, Owens, Pacman on Cowboys practice field at same time

IRVING, Texas -- Adam "Pacman" Jones backpedaled, turned around and caught the ball during individual drills on Wednesday.

Jones went through his second day of offseason workouts with the Dallas Cowboys since commissioner Roger Goodell said this week that Jones could join his new team at practice. It was the first session open to the media, and the first with Pro Bowl receiver Terrell Owens also on the field.

At the end of his first practice in more than a year Tuesday, Jones intercepted a pass -- thrown by third-stringer Richard Bartel, not Pro Bowl starter Tony Romo -- and returned it about 60 yards to the end zone.

Owens missed Tuesday's practice, when he was in New York for NFL business before returning to Texas to sign his new $34 million contract through the 2011 season. Owens said he looked forward to working against Jones.

"I'm pretty sure it's going to be some heated battles," Owens said Tuesday. "It's going to be a challenge. ... It's all about competition. I feel like if I can go against some of the best every day, it makes the games that much easier."

Jones, acquired by the Cowboys from Tennessee in April, can also take part in training camp and preseason games, but remains suspended from the regular season. Goodell will rule on that by Sept. 1, six days before the Cowboys' opener.

Jones missed all of the 2007 season while suspended from the NFL following an accumulation of arrests and legal problems, including his connection to a shooting at a Las Vegas strip club.

Jeez, they make it sound like these guys have a history or something. They played each other once, and nothing memorable transpired.

Something sort of did. Owens gave Pacman his cleats after the game. They had a bet or something and since Owens didn't score he paid up.

We stomped them so I doubt he cared.

Seems to me that Pacman has respect for Owen and his talent.

Hopefully, Owens can be a positive influence on how not to get into off -field trouble.

One things is for certain, if Pacman Jones manages to screw-up with this many people helping him, he is truly clueless.

I'm honestly betting that he figures it out.

But I'm a Cowboys homer so what do I know?

(That was a rhetorical question and NO! I'm not looking for an answer!)

So what is the total of Rd1 picks we have on the defense now? 10?

Is that just playing or does the bench count too?

You are correct sir. 1 D-lineman, 4-LBs, 3-CBs, & 1 Safety.

Well, you appear to know what a rhetorical question is.

I dunno that answer... but I do know we have some top talent on this team that we shouldnt....

Colombo - former 1st rounder
Pacman - former 1st rounder
Owens - plays like a 1st rounder

good fortune for us.

Too many not performing at that level...only two (Ware & Newman) are currently performing as first round selections. Saying we have 9 first round players on defense sounds great until you analyze performance.

The young guys on the list have potential and may yet step up and perform at that level. The older guys should be traded...Williams...

Let's see, 4 were Pro Bowlers (31/38, 41, 98, 94), 2 haven't played a down (21, 31), 1 is BEHIND two Pro Bowlers on the depth chart (93) and one plays a position that WILL never get him recognition b/c of production (96). So, IMO, the only one not performing up to his draft status is 54...and he's primarily there b/c of his father's connection w/ our former coach, so methinks you're not giving enough credit where it's due!
