Even in a season in which the Cowboys are 5-1 and likely the best team in the NFC, wide out Terrell Owens is finding much to complain about. Owens played off some comments Wednesday as “frustration” and not “complaints” when it came to his role in the teams passing game. This season he has 16 catches for 329 yards and three scores, but just like always - wants more. And with that, let the “frustration” begin.
The start of the complaining came after the Cowboys were picked apart by the Patriots at home last Sunday. He did pull in six passes for 66 yards, but said he would have liked to have seen the team open up the passing game more to try and match the high powered offense of the Pats. “I was frustrated we didn’t go down the field as much,” he said before Wednesday’s practice. “With the way they played, we could have taken some shots. Even despite that, there were opportunities for us to win the game.”
Unlike former coach Bill Parcells, who would have likely declined comment on Owens’ talk, current coach Wade Phillips has told the coaches to make sure #81 sees the ball thrown to him as much as possible. “It’s easy to say that there’s enough routes that he’s a primary guy, but the quarterback still has to make those decisions,” Phillips said. “They double your primary guy [so] you can’t throw it to him every down, that kind of thing.”
Ownes was also not shy to take a bit of a shot at QB Tony Romo. When asked about the lack of chances he’s had in the 4th quarter of games this season, T.O. said it’s on Romo’s shoulders to find him and get him the ball. “That’s all on the quarterback,” Owens said. “Other than that, all I can do is run my routes. Look at the film and there’s some situations and opportunities for me to get the ball.”
Likely this week the tensions of a loss will fade quickly, as Owens and fellow pass catcher Patrick Crayton should get plenty of chances against the Minnesota Vikings pass defense, one of the worst in the NFL. Leave it to T.O. though to turn what has been a good season so far in Dallas into one where his mouth is starting to get in the way again, as it usually does.

He's obviously studied the game tape and seen that there where spots where he should have gotten the ball. In the end, we didn't lose because T.O. didn't get the ball more, we lost because of penalties and poor coverage.

Of course, the media loves to spin anything that comes out of T.O.'s mouth, they act like it's criminal for a player to be upset after losing a game he felt his team should have won.

I am ok with Owens complaining.

This team is 1-1 against teams with good offenses. Giants game could have easily been a loss...

We need a wakeup call.

if TO's comments were read in the context in which they were actually made in, they would see that TO isn't complaining, he's just telling it like it is, even during the broadcast, the announcers mentioned that there was alot of room for Romo to throw deep because of the space the Pat dbacks were giving our receivers

the writer also fails to mention that TO said his outlook is still sunny for the season immediately following these quotes, so he's not exactly fustrated as the article would lead you to believe

The media sure are trying to spin every possible angle on TO. Seems much worse this year.

I am also sure the quotes were taken out of context....but I do have one question.

Why have they stopped sending T.O. in motion? they did that for a couple of games and he seemed unstoppable. I never noticed anybody stopping that, just looks like they(Garrett) has stopped calling that kind of play.

I'd like to see the thrown to/catch ratio for our TE's and WR's. Wanna bet TO's isn't as high as Crayton's, Hurd's or Witten?

Owens DID NOT "spout off about a lack of passes his way."

He said we should have taken more shots downfield -- he didn't even say it had to be to him, just that we should have gone deep.

btw, TO in the same interview said that complaining for more passes in the past didn't get him more

another tidbit this spinster chose to leave out of his article

This is a site where anyone can write an article. This particular "writer" is a known Dallas hater who picked us for last place in the NFC East this year.

Philly
Washington
NYG
Dallas

That was his order. :laugh2:

He and I also got into quite a disagreement about Tony Romo. He said that Jason Campbell had the pedigree and that Romo was going to tank this season. He said that Campbell is a far, far better QB than Romo and that there won't be any comparison between their stats this year... with Campbell in the lead, statistically, by a far margin.

I've seen pictures of him in his Eagles jersey, tailgating before Philly games.

That should tell you all you need to know about this dip-stick and his opinion on the Cowboys as well as why he so strongly dislikes TO.

He also asked me to write for his site... to which I declined.

Frankly, I'm not even sure why Gryph continues to post stuff from that site here. It's like posting someone's opinion from Extremeskins.

Owens no longer gets seperation how can we throw deep? Buffalo exposed us and played up man up and forced us to make plays underneath -they took away our deep stuff easily. Not to mention Romo floats the ball when going deep....

Here's another written gem by Matt Loede:

Turnaround Has to Start Now For Eagles

Posted by Matt Loede on October 10th, 2007 filed in Opinions

If the Eagles are going to turn their 2007 season around, putting the first four weeks of the season behind them and getting set to take care of the 1-4 Jets at home this week has to happen. The team cannot lose again on Sunday if playing football past January 1 is in their plans. Part of the issue is that the rest of the NFC East is looking better and better each week, as they boast an impressive 11-3 combined record, while the Eagles sit at 1-3. The Bills could have helped out on Monday night if someone would have showed them how to finish off a game. Instead they let the Cowboys hang around long enough to somehow find a way to leave Western New York with a 25-24 win.
Eagles coaches and players are starting to realize that the season is going to slip away quickly if they don’t start winning games. “Washington is building momentum. Dallas is building momentum, and New York is building momentum,” tight end L.J. Smith said Monday. “These teams really have gotten better since last year.” And the Eagles, based on their record and what they have shown to date in 2007 - have not. They have not played well on offense minus the 51-point outburst against the Lions in week three, and the defense has yet to allow less than 16 points in any of the four games they have played in 2007.
If you want to be encouraged about the 1-3 start, consider that the Eagles and Jets are the only teams that have started 1-3 or worse and managed to make the playoffs three different times during the Super Bowl era. Still, it’s not the way you want to go as a team, but it’s where the birds sit today as they continue to get ready for New York. “Our focus is on the Philadelphia Eagles and winning every game that we play,” running back Brian Westbrook said. “We could win however many games we have left, and that would be a great season. It would be a slow start but a great season.”

That's a fair article I thought. The Eagles are struggling and have beaten the Lions on a freak outburst and the hapless Jets on a very poorly played game.
