Have you guys even seen him play? Don't let the fact that Rolle played for Miami and Rogers for Auburn fool ya! I guess it's easy for those who haven't watched to base your opinion on where a certain kid has played. I would value the opinion of the draft experts at ESPN and Sporting News a little more than yours I guess. Kiper has him as possible a top 5 pick.
Also, I have seen almost every game Jones has played in. Had the kid went to Aurburn or UofM he'd be a more popular pick amongst the uninformed.
Well that's where you'd be wrong. I saw all four play several times a piece: Pac-Man, Rolle, Jackson, and Rogers. No player affected the outcome of a game more than Rolle and Rogers. Jackson was probably technically the most sound of the four in a shutdown CB role but not as much the big-playmaker as Rogers or Rolle. Pacman didn't show me much in the games I saw him. Also, Rogers, Rolle, and Jackson (and Webster) go 6'1 whereas Jones only goes 5'11. They're all about the same speed.
Of course a lot of NFL teams buy the hype from the combine and Kiper and do stupid stuff on draft day so I hope Pacman does go first. IMO Rolle, Jackson, and Rogers (and maybe Miller and Webster) will be at least as good or better. I hope that Rolle is on the board at #11. He's a great player and likely to be the BPA if he's still available. I know BP said he doesn't plan to use a high pick on a CB again but I'd think Rolle would have to be tempting. The only other players that excite me that much at #11 is Mike Williams and Derrick Johnson, both of which are likely to be gone.
I'm still not sure why we didn't take Vasher last year instead of either wasted OL picks, we wouldn't need a CB this year. and oh by the way...Vasher had like 5 picks this year. Rolle reminds me of a bigger, better Vasher that can return kicks and is better in run support. But what do i know?
