There were some hints given during last summer’s season of “The Bachelor”, of all places, that the relationship between Green Bay Packers star Aaron Rodgers and his immediate family is less than idyllic.

A story published to Bleacher Report on Friday, by former Packers beat writer Tyler Dunne, reinforces the idea that Rodgers has little-to-no contact with his parents and two brothers, having cut them off completely nearly two years ago; his own father buys tickets through StubHub if he wants to see his son play.

Citing a source who “was close to Rodgers for years but is among the many who have since been cut off by Rodgers entirely,” Dunne outlines just how bad things are:

  • Immediate family members don’t have his cell phone number;
  • His parents sent Christmas gifts to Rodgers and his girlfriend in 2014, only to see them mailed back two months later;
  • Rodgers told his family they are no longer welcome in Green Bay;
  • He backed out of serving as a groomsmen for one of his closest friends the day before the wedding;
  • He did not attend the funeral of the grandfather he used to call before every game;
  • He fired his business manager, whom he’s known since high school.
As Dunne notes, it’s certainly possible there’s another side to this story (Rodgers declined to be interviewed), a reason why the quarterback has behaved this way.

But the source believes Rodgers’ alienation of his family is why he’s playing so poorly.

Sounds like the symptoms of Aaron being in a cult. Where you cut off your family and immediate friends. Weird.

Stuff happens but why wouldn't you attend your grandpas funeral. Smh. Comeon man.
It's gotta be the new girlfriend.
Him missing his grandpa's funeral is what stood out to me too. Between his smug looks during games and this, he's really easy to dislike.

Why do people assume Rodger's was close to his gramps to begin with?

I had a great stereotypical relationship with my grandparents (as I'm guessing most have), but I definitely have friends that little to zero relationships with their grandparents or had a very strained and unhealthy relationship with theirs for various reasons.

We don't know exactly what transpired between him and his family but I just always thought he was a douchebag. I can only guess they were asking for money but that's just speculation on my part. If that's all it is it's no reason to cut them off even if he didn't give them the asked for money. There's just not a lot of reasons I can come up with that would be a good reason to cut off your family other than some type of abuse that took place but again I don't know the reason.

According to the news, he used to talk to his Grandfather before every game.

Article states that he used to call him before every game. Whether true or not no one knows. It is from a source that has been cut out by Rodgers, so everything has to be taken with a huge grain of salt

never was a big fan of Rodgers as he seems to have a cocky, elite attitude about him but this is typical media these days. Write an article with no substance but a clear agenda to prompt a negative reaction.

Rodgers is just the opposite of Favre. Favre was likeable even when you rooted against him. Rodgers is not. He thinks he's better than everybody else. Probably because the media has anointed him the greatest QB of all time for years.
