The obligatory Cowboys are interested rumor:

Dallas Cowboys
It’s tricky to talk about the Cowboys at the moment. On the one hand, the team is looking to extend up to six of their young starters. On the other side, Dallas needs a defensive tackle and could only have a one-year window to return to the Super Bowl.

The Cowboys defense finished with a top 10 grade in the NFL in total defense and a top-five grade in run defense. The team did lose David Irving to the league’s substance policy, and Maliek Collins has dealt with injuries in the past. Trysten Hill is the only other option, and he’s a rookie who could take some time to grow.

If Daniels signs in Dallas, Tyrone Crawford would be able to shift back to his defensive end role permanently. In a 4-3 base front, Daniels would also be limited to just one gap, making his assignments easier. Dallas will need to decide if they can win without the help of a veteran up the middle.

If they can’t, Jerry Jones might need to risk losing a player in the future to bring home a trophy in the present. Daniels would fit their defense perfectly.

I've seen a few stories possibly linking him to Dallas. It makes sense to me from a needs standpoint, but we'll see.

This line would be so good if we signed him. And then went back in time about four years.

You made the same argument in the McCoy debate and sure enough, he ended up signing a pretty team friendly one year deal in Carolina (granted, Carolina was a preferred destination for him).
That’s why I say it’s worth the inquiry. Clearly the first choice for any player would be to find a team they like and that will give them a strong, multi year offer. If they don’t find that they settle for something less. It just seems fans sometimes forget both sides have a say in the terms, and you can’t simply assume a 1 year team friendly deal is available

I just posted this because he’s a DT, what is considered by most our second biggest need, he’s a good player, and he wants to sign with a super bowl contender. Figured that checked all the boxes.

Are we really thinking DT is a bigger need than safety, TE, or backup QB?

we still do not have established difference making DTs , it not like we have pro bowlers up in the middle, the thought of Daniel here (being a bookend with Hill?) was about the quality of player,..not just having another a joe doe for the sake of having a DT.

but where i think it won't even be a distance thought with the Cowboys, is Daniel is 30 years old and Stephen doesn't like to deal with the older crowd.
and plus Daniel would be more of a 3 tech in this 4-3 scheme and certainly that time and rep is gonna be directed towards his reps and development.of prized rookie Trysten Hill.

maybe i could understand not offering a long term contract considering his age, but why not a 1 year deal ?

A) Why are they releasing him and B) what makes anyone think he would play better for the Cowboys?

Is GB not in need of DL? Are they not in need of a D?
