Dan Patrick just reported that Chris Mortenson was told that Pacman Jones visited a strip club in New York the night before his appeal.

Club security tipped off the NFL. Goodell knew this and asked what Jones was going to do to get his name out of the paper. He told the commissioner he was imposing a self-ban on himself from strip clubs. Goodell then asked him the last time he visited a strip club. He paused and said "ummm... last night, but that's the last one"...

Mortenson said that indications are that Jones will not only be suspended for the entire 2007 season, but half of 2008 as well.

Either

A: he doesn't understand just how serious of trouble he is in with both law officials and the league.

or

B: he just doesn't care.

Geez. I really like this new commish, putting his foot down and saying shape up.

I gotta agree. I like the no nonsense approach.

I thought the idea was to get him to stay out of trouble not turn him into a choirboy if he is suspended further he will sue the NFL and win, and i do not even like strip clubs but visiting one is not illegal.

Name the last good thing to come from going to one?

And where was he the last time he got into trouble?

Oh, yeah......

are you serious? he put himself right back into the situation that got him to this point. Why even go to a strip club if you have court cases pending from a strip club. And why even go on the eve of your appeal. Thats just stupid.

Well, my opinion on this is that if you have already compramised you situation by getting yourself in trouble, then you pretty much forefit the right to do things like hand out in strip clubs etc. All this stuff is available to players if they do not abuse it. Any player can hang out in a club if they don't get into trouble. Once you get yourself into leagal issue with this, then the right goes away. Pretty much everything in our society works that way.

It was dumb for him to be there, no doubt, but not illegal. Apparently he did nothing wrong. I'd be willing to bet 90% of NFL players have been to strip clubs, they aren't going to be suspended.

Yeah that's really reliable,

Patrick was told by a guy who was told by a guy who was told by a security guard.

My question is why was the lunkhead bouncer ratting out Jones in the first place? I swear society is becoming full of snitches and stoolies.

No one is questioning the legal aspect of going to a strip club. And sure, a lot of players do go to clubs.

Heres the thing. Jones has been in trouble too damned much over the last year and that combined with his vegas incident makes it stupid for him to go there.

I hope he gets suspended even more. He may never make it back to a game because it looks like hes a damned idiot.

I heard the rest on the radio, but I didn't hear this. Why would there be extra suspension? If Goodell knew about the incident the night before, then that should already be taken into account in his suspension. He shouldn't just come back a few months later and say, "You know what? I think I'll add another year suspension just cause I feel differently now."

I'm waiting on the suspension of Vick to come down. He should get at least 5 games. If not, Goodell is as yellow as it gets. Either that or he may realize now that he overreacted in the first instance.
