Pacman Jones said he will not apply for reinstatement to the NFL. Jones said on the Michael Irvin radio show today he wants to wait until he's traded before making a move.

Jones' agent, Manny Arora said last week the goal was to apply for reinstatement by Tuesday. Now that has changed.

Jones is still hopeful he will be traded to the Cowboys.
"I was going to file for reinstatement but I wanted the situation to workout," he said.

The Cowboys continue to be in talks with the Titans about a trade. The Cowboys increased their offer to make a deal and Jones has made some financial commitments to the Titans to help the deal go through. But as of right now, it's up to the Titans and the Cowboys to workout a deal.

USC's Davis to visit Cowboys

We're told USC TE Fred Davis will be among the national prospects to descend upon Valley Ranch tomorrow. The 6-foot-3, 255-pounder ran in the 4.6s and recorded a 33-inch vertical at his Pro Day in Los Angeles earlier this month.

Davis, who has already visited with the Saints, had 62 receptions for 881 yards (14.2 avg.) and eight touchdowns as a senior, and won the Mackey Award (nation's top tight end) and team co-MVP honors for the Pac-10 and Rose Bowl champion Trojans in 2007. The Cowboys don't have a pressing need at the position, but as Stephen Jones said a few days back, the strength of the roster will give the Cowboys flexibility to draft the best player on the board.

Also, Pro Football Talk is reporting that Michigan State WR Devin Thomas is set to visit the Cowboys, as well as the Raiders and Commanders, this week. That pushes are list of national prospects to 24. Teams are allowed to host 30 out-of-area prospects. Here are the guys we've confirmed to have been invited ...

Virginia G Branden Albert
UNLV ILB Beau Bell
Texas A&M TE Martellus Bennett
Virginia Tech OT Duane Brown
Kentucky WR Keenan Burton
Arizona CB Antoine Cason
Texas RB Jamaal Charles
USC TE Fred Davis
Missouri WR Will Franklin
Virginia Tech CB Brandon Flowers
Iowa CB Charles Godfrey
Indiana WR James Hardy
East Carolina RB Chris Johnson
Arkansas RB Felix Jones
Oklahoma WR Malcolm Kelly
Tennessee LB Jerod Mayo
Troy CB Leodis McKelvin
Illinois RB Rashard Mendenhall
Indiana CB Tracy Porter
USC LB Keith Rivers
Tennessee State CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie
Oregon RB Jonathan Stewart
Texas WR Limas Sweed
Michigan State WR Devin Thomas

Looks like a tactical move. Once he's reinstated he may generate more interest around the league and thus the Titans ask for more. It's better for the Cowboys to deal for him while he is still suspended.

It seems like he and his agent are doing everything possible to make him a Cowboy.

Why the hell would we even work Davis out?

That doesnt make any sense. He is going to be going in the late first/early second round.

And plus, we already have 3 extremely capable TEs in Witten, Fasano, Curtis.

This is a waste of a workout if you ask me. They only get so many don't they?

Fasano may be worth something to Tuna (sorry I meant Ireland), Davis is BPA you pick him instead of reaching and trade Fasano to Tuna.

Unless the Cowboys think Davis could fall to 22 where they could trade out of that spot, I don't get this.

I was joking about the same thing when we showed interest in Bennett a few weeks ago... But maybe it's no joke.

I actually would give Curtis a chance, too. He did a great job last year.

No doubt about it. He and his agent are really forcing the titans hand by not applying for reinstatement until he gets traded to the boys.

I'm starting to like this kid, and I can't believe I just said that.

Yes, it's a tactical move to get traded on Jones' part but you have to look at how this may effect Dallas' image.

Coming off a year when a great many fans were questioning officiating and bias for some teams, spygate, etc.. bringing the integrity of the league into question, I don't know if having the most popular/hated team have a player reinstated after he's traded to them is the best idea for Dallas or the NFL.

Somebody needs to mess with the Titans. They are the ones being unreasonable in this deal.

Wow, very smart move on his part. I'm impressed. This should force their hand.

Actually if hes not reinstated they can hold onto him forever and it doesn't matter. its only when he has to take up a roster spot, they have to play him etc that it forces them to make a decision.

Exactly, I don't understand the "this helps Dallas" viewpoint. The Titans have to decide to pay him once he's reinstated. They have to let him back into workouts and team meetings. If he's suspended, he's in limbo.

If getting reinstated drives up the asking price because other teams become interested, that's one thing. But if the Titans have no desire to keep him, getting reinstated forces them to essentially **** or get off the pot.

I think the tactic is to put the issue forefront that an inactive Pacman is a worthless Pacman. If Pac was re-instated then it's safe to assume that other suitors would get in the mix and muddy the entire picture. I think Jones believes that the Cowboys is the best possible situation for him and he's undermining the Titans trade tactics and value for him by prolonging the suspension time frame. I don't think this has anything to do with money for Jones, right now. The only party that has a financial hang up in this whole deal is Tennessee. They can trade/release him before he's re-instated or pay up when everything is made official. The clock is ticking for only one group here and it's not Pacman or Dallas. The draft is two weeks away and I don't think the Cowboys blink from here on out. Jones wants to be a Cowboy and he seems set on making it happen. I wouldn't be surprised if this is a backdoor tactic "insinuated" by the Cowboys, themselves.

I believe there's a lot going on behind the scenes that we don't know about. The fact is the Titans know Pacman is an extremely talented player that could very well prove to be a valuable and extremely productive player for the Cowboys.

I believe they are not happy about having to trade him but they realize they have no other choice. I also think they aren't happy about PacMan publicly spouting his love for the Cowboys and they feel like he is using his bad behavior to his benefit by forcing a trade to a team he loves. That is sticking in their craw and they are going to delay the trade as long as possible just to make life difficult for him and the Cowboys.

Don't be surprised if Jerry blinks. He does that about as often as he says "um, smack, er, um." There have already been several updates from various media outlets reporting that Jerry has upped the offer.

I know I am not in the know as most here ,but if The Boys go after a TE with one of their first round picks I'll definitely start up my pills early this year.:bang2:

I think the Titans can still choose to hold onto him.

Also, PacMan professed his love for New England, too. Basically any team that has shown interest, he would love to play for.
