Pacman Trade Talks Beginning

Wait, so Parcells is interested too?? Haaaa!!!!

I guess Parcells was too old to be coaching thugs and gangbangers, but Tony Sparano isn't.

If we trade for Pacman and he gets so much as a speeding ticket, he's missing games. Anyone who'd rely on that would beyond stupid. And trading up for McFadden based on getting Pacman means you're relying on Pacman.

Exactly. Fans may have this pollyannaish dream that we sign Pac and he never sees an ounce of trouble again, but I know Jerry is smarter than that.

Even if the Jones thing happens the Boys are still taking a first round CB. They have no choice. They have to cover their butts in the event that Pacman pulls...well, a Pacman.

Im sure he is too but I still dont think he wouldn't use that as an excuse to overspend on McFadden if he wants that deal done.

With all these corners in this draft I expect some solid veterans to be released and could add more depth to our roster.

If Jerry REALLY wants McFadden then he has every excuse in the world to do it if he trades for Pacman.

Plus this makes us the obvious #1 favorite to go to the Superbowl in the NFC and possibly #1 favorite in the NFL.

That's exactly what it'd be.

Pacman is pure and simple, a thug. TO was more like Keyshawn, a "me" player. That can have it's problems, but not the same as guys like Pacman and Chris Henry, etc.

I think we have a chance with the right moves to get to the top without having to go this route.

I don't think it is a desparation move as much as it is a business move for Jerry. I just don't think he really sees a downside to a move like this. Fans have proven over and over that they are willing to forgive - just win baby.

In 2 years, if we get him and he stays out of trouble, what he did in the past will be long forgotten by most all fans.

The line will be - "I am happy with Pacman, he has finally matured"

If he does not, Jerry has put very little into it and the Boys rep is tainted a bit. Don't think the downside here is going to outweigh the upside from Jerry's perspective.

Then Jerry would be foolish.

He would be turning the Pacman deal into a high risk/high reward proposition.

He would be counting on him when he shouldn't.

Corners are currently the hottest commodity in the NFL, I can't see teams releasing any who are worth anything.

Trading for Pacman should have no bearing on the draft.

Stephen Jones has already made it clear that one of the reasons they remained low in free agency this year was because they have to re-sign both Newman and Ware. I think Dallas is going to work out a deal before either of them can hit free agency.

Thats wishful thinking in my opinion.

If we get Pacman I think our 1st selection is going to be McFadden or Kelly.

Nothing personal, but I hope you're wrong on that.

Not because I dislike either player, but because I would hate to have to count on Pacman's behavior.

Me too man. I dont want Pacman. He could be good but at this point he has been overrated because of the media hype he has gotten.

Im just trying to put the pieces to the puzzle together and if we get Pacman I dont believe we will draft a corner @ 22.

I hate to see that idiot be called a former Cowboy when he gets cut by us for the rest of his jail bound days.

If they get PacMan, they may look at Kenny Phillips or Reggie Smith instead of some of the other folks thrown around at Corner. Smith and Phillips can both play either Corner or Safety. Not only would that hedge our bets on Pacman, but it would also cover any openings in the Safety ranks that may come up in 2009.

Hey, it's not like he dragged down the Tennessee Titans franchise.

What he's done, he's done to himself.

He didn't take his team or any of his teammates with him.

The only thing the Cowboys would be 'guilty of' is giving a troubled player a last chance. And I firmly believe that Jerry Jones and the Cowboys would make sure that both Adam Jones and the rest of the world are clearly aware of that.

The rest - either good or bad - is on him.

Thats actually a good point. Nothing that he did hurt the Titans other than them losing out on his play. He didn't throw any of his teammates under the bus or anything of that nature.

He didn't drag them down but he definetely hurt them by his absence.

They got incredibly lucky with Michael Griffin or they may be drafting a lot higher with that secondary.

If they thought he didn't effect their team I think theyd give him another chance as well.

you make it a pick contingent on him signing and when he comes off suspension.

fourth before training camp, 6th after, 7th if not before first game as an example.

Keep in mind some key differences between the Titan's situation and any conditions in Dallas:

The Titans had plenty invested in Pacman Jones - a high first round draft pick and a huge signing bonus. For better or worse, they were more or less stuck with him.

If Jones and the Cowboys do it right, all of the pressure will be squarely on Pacman - a second day draft pick and no signing bonus money to be on the hook for.

By drafting a cornerback with a first rounder, they'll even ensure that they won't suffer on the field if he's suspended again, further minimizing their risk.

i was never a fan of bringing in the pac-dude. too much baggage. but i was also dead set against TO and wanted Javon Walker instead.

hey - i'm a fan and wrong a lot. at this point we need CB help and he could come cheap. it's not without risk, no. but it's a calculated one with a lot of upside. if not, we still need CB help - which is why we draft one in the 1st round despite the DMAC cries people can't live without.

Thank You!!!

Signing Pacman is very similar to signing guys like Tank Johnson (character issues) and Zach Thomas (one foot in the coffin) in the sense that if they don't work out, so what? Good teams like Dallas can afford to take risks on players, and all three of these guys have great potential at minimal risk.

It cracks me up how people think that Pacman actually has the power to bring the Cowboys down. Those people are basically rehashing the old TO argument, and we all know how that worked out.

I think the bigger problem for most fans is the fact that they don't want to see anybody become a Cowboy who isn't a class act. I know I'm in the minority, but I don't care at all about what these guys do off the field. Hell I don't even care about individual stats. I don't watch Cowboys football to see TO catch TDs, watch Romo rack up passing yards, or even revel in Barber plowing over defenders. I watch Cowboys football to see them win. If signing Pacman gives us the chance to win more football games I'm all for it, whether he's a thug or not.

Because getting Pacman Jones is a desperation move in my opinion.

If Jerry could have the 1 guy he wanted I believe it would be McFadden.

Since we have 2 1st round picks we have earned the right to do what ever the heck we want with them. Especially considering what we gave up for the Browns pick.

If Jerry thinks Pacman and McFadden puts us in the Superbowl then he'll make this move.

Desperation move?

A desperation move was trying to catch lightning in a bottle...the next donovan mcnabb....your namesake...
