Pacman Trade Talks Beginning

I just dont think Newman is going anywhere unless someone just extremely overpays which free agency has shown is quite possible.

Dallas is in a position to overspend if they so well please.

I guess we let Barber, Ware, Canty, Hamlin, and Newman walk, eh?

Keep in mind some key differences between the Titan's situation and any conditions in Dallas:

The Titans had plenty invested in Pacman Jones - a high first round draft pick and a huge signing bonus. For better or worse, they were more or less stuck with him.

If Jones and the Cowboys do it right, all of the pressure will be squarely on Pacman - a second day draft pick and no signing bonus money to be on the hook for.

By drafting a cornerback with a first rounder, they'll even ensure that they won't suffer on the field if he's suspended again, further minimizing their risk.

:starspin If we bring him in, as long as we include behaviorial clauses in his contract, which we know Jerry Jones will do, and not give up too much for him, I wouldn't mind seeing him come in. However, I still want us pick a CB early, so that if Pacman gets in trouble again, we'll be covered.

Agreed about the draft pick. Don't depend on Pacman's behavior. Let him worry about that.

And I don't even think you need behavioral clauses after this one:

This is your last chance, screw up in any way and you're gone.

:chop:

Lets go get McFadden..

We can spending 20-30 million on a guy who will split carries with Marion Barber

Yeah, thats it

We can spend a hell of a lot less on a Jones or Johnson.

Our 2 1sts wont even be enough to even get up to the 6th slot

Heck, lets throw in Demarcus Ware to sweeten the pot why dont we?

********

If we get Pacman he will replace Henry trust me.

This is a good move.

By late pick, we better be talking 6th or 7th rounder here, and if the deal does go through for Pacman, you can bet your sweet behind Jerry is going for DMAC. No question.

Im just throwing around ideas dude and wouldn't be shocked if any of them stick.

Personally I wouldn't touch Pacman.

I would draft our guy @ 22 whether it be Kelly (if he falls that far) or best corner available.

With 28 I would take the best value at that spot and if it isn't there i'd trade out of the 1st round.

And if we lose Barber im gonna be one pissed dude.

in a dreamers world, sure. no question. in reality, LOTS of questions.

please draft - take dmac away and let's go onto a fresh horse to shred.

Pacman is gonna be a reserve, not a starter if we acquire him and when Goodell clears him to play

He screws up, he can take whatever he has left and start a chain of strip clubs for all I care

Perhaps he stays clean and gets into the line up if/when Henry is released or moved to safety

Or, if Newman decides he wants Hall/Clements/Samuel @ age 31 money, we can replace him

Newman is a good to very good, but like Akin Ayodele, hes is position to make plays but doesnt NEARLY enough....

Give me jenkins, Cason, Porter, Flowers or King and they could bejust as productive at a small fraction of what Newman wants

Too many here over-rate Newman

He's, like so many other quality CB's largely a product of the pressure our front 7 generates

I different the opinion of the a WR--I want a game breaker like jackson or a guy like sweed or Hardy...not a Kelly fan

RB? Felix Jones or chris Johson would suit me just fine. Both fit the bill of a game breaker, especially johnson

Nah. It's not even April yet.

I don't think Newman will get the same amount of years as Clements/Hall/Samuels. Before the season starts Newman will sign a 6 year 60 million dollar contract. We'll get the cap space for the deal by extending TO for another 3-4 years.

Even if the Jones thing happens the Boys are still taking a first round CB. They have no choice. They have to cover their butts in the event that Pacman pulls...well, a Pacman.

Exactly, it's not really that complicated if we get PacMan great but we will still need another CB.

careful. if you interfere or provide reality to the DMAC crowd, they get testy and start new "why we must have dmac" threads.

To mention Newman and Akin in the same breath is cause for losing all credibility. Newman's first and foremost role as a CB is to shut-down his man, which he does. Akin's primary role is to tackle people and stop the run and he hardly even does that..

If we planned to go after Dmac then we would have gotten rid of Barber for a first round pick a long time ago....it makes no sense what so ever for him to come here with a huge contract and split carries with Barber...Y'all need to come down off that cloud 9. I just hope we don't pick Felix Jones (YUCK!)

& Jerry..please get Pacman! I can't wait to see him returning punts for TD's for us. I'd hate for the Patriots to pick him up.

most depressing post of the day award goes to.........
Kleenex. I'm not crazy about this either.

I just think since the news has come out yesterday morning that Jerry will strike while the iron is still hot. He won't give the other 30 teams the weekend to outbid him. If he wants to roll the dice, and it looks like he does, he's not going to wait.

No source, just playing the Couch GM game.

I dont think you can over-rate all but guaranteeing shutting down a teams best receiver and absolutely taking away the teams slot receiver.

Plus not giving up big plays and points.

Newman is a lot of things. Overrated is not one.

I agree with you but make no mistake Akin is a very solid player.

He doesn't do anything great but he sure as heck doesn't hurt us either.

Hes a quality Linebacker.
