Keep in mind some key differences between the Titan's situation and any conditions in Dallas:

The Titans had plenty invested in Pacman Jones - a high first round draft pick and a huge signing bonus. For better or worse, they were more or less stuck with him.

If Jones and the Cowboys do it right, all of the pressure will be squarely on Pacman - a second day draft pick and no signing bonus money to be on the hook for.

By drafting a cornerback with a first rounder, they'll even ensure that they won't suffer on the field if he's suspended again, further minimizing their risk.

Agreed about the draft pick. Don't depend on Pacman's behavior. Let him worry about that.

I would draft our guy @ 22 whether it be Kelly (if he falls that far) or best corner available.

With 28 I would take the best value at that spot and if it isn't there i'd trade out of the 1st round.

Give me jenkins, Cason, Porter, Flowers or King and they could bejust as productive at a small fraction of what Newman wants

I don't think Newman will get the same amount of years as Clements/Hall/Samuels. Before the season starts Newman will sign a 6 year 60 million dollar contract. We'll get the cap space for the deal by extending TO for another 3-4 years.

Even if the Jones thing happens the Boys are still taking a first round CB. They have no choice. They have to cover their butts in the event that Pacman pulls...well, a Pacman.

If we planned to go after Dmac then we would have gotten rid of Barber for a first round pick a long time ago....it makes no sense what so ever for him to come here with a huge contract and split carries with Barber...Y'all need to come down off that cloud 9. I dont think you can over-rate all but guaranteeing shutting down a teams best receiver and absolutely taking away the teams slot receiver.

Plus not giving up big plays and points.

Newman is a lot of things. Overrated is not one.

I agree with you but make no mistake Akin is a very solid player.

He doesn't do anything great but he sure as heck doesn't hurt us either.

Hes a quality Linebacker.
