Pact among 05 rookies to work their butt off in offseason weightconditioning program?

I can remember reading within last 2 weeks (but don't remember where I read it--not on this forum) that our 05 rookies made a pact among themselves to work their butts off in the offseason and all have done so (don't know about Burnett cause of his knee injury). We've all read reports about Ware, Spears, Canty, Pettiti, Beriault & I think Ratliff & Barber. Also throw Colombo, Newman, Peterman & Proctor into that mix as well as veterans Riveria & Johnson. There probably many other players as well but don't remember which of them particularly cited like above guys. With virtually all the players participating in our offseason weight conditioning program (except for Ellis) and limited participation by TO & M.Coleman (wasn't signed til early April) it appears this team has bought into the idea they can be a legit SB contender & are doing everything they can in offseason to be ready.

Also at least one of the vets we signed (Ayedole) hase been studying film of the 3-4 defense with help with Bradie James (whose becoming defensive leader now that he a starter); hopefully James also helping Boiman. Additionally Ware was also reportedly studying last year's film so he can improve his play this year; wouldn't be surprised if Carpenter (spent lot of college career also studying game film) getting same tuteledge from either Ware (he and Carpenter have already bonded) or Singleton (apparently a locker room leader & class guy). I hope other 06 defensive draft players like Hatcher, Watkins & Stanley getting similar help. Obviously other teams may be doing same thing, but it just seems to me that our young Cowboy team (at least on defense) is developing exceptionally close bonds.

Hopefully that extends to the offense which needs all the help they can give each other. There has been reporting TO has been giving advice to some of our younger WRs (like how to get into/out of patterns quickly) & hope that includes Skyler Green who needs the help. Riveria has also been working with Pettiti & Colombo & hope/assume (maybe Riveria but also Adams?) similarly working closely with Kosier but maybe also with McQuistain? Sure hope Witten (also emerging as a leader?) is helping Fasano.

Everybody on this team seems to be on board but Ellis, but since I don't want this to become an Ellis thread won't say anymore about this situation which hopefully will resolve itself to team's benefit by opening of TC.

As long as everyone is buying in.
Then the younger players make the jump this year.
We will be in good shape.

Marcus Spears mentioned this pact on Jim Rome's radio show and Calico posted it here.

The McQuistain humors me. Just looking at his picture with that Deliverence'esq sheet eating grin, and that his twin BROTHER was a 3rd round pick. We chose him for those reasons? LOL. I'm just kidding really. Wasn't Mr. T still on the draft board? :)

Sounds weird that's for sure. Wasn't happy about this pick but then we can't expect to get any player who can contribute this year so I guess it makes sense to use it at OL who take time to develop. At least we saw enough of him while studying the film of his brother (also interested in drafting the brother in 4th round until Raiders picked him) to call him 2-3 times on the 2nd day of draft to let him know we still interested and assure ourselves he would sign/play for us & not the Raiders where his brother going. Hopefully we can put him on PS this year to develop & next year see what we have. Since Parcells believes this guy is 1 year behind his brother, Parcells probably plans on jump-starting him (hopefully not to necessary with Pettiti) so he's ready in 07.

I'm trying to look on the bright side of drafting him; same goes for Whitely who can play all OL positions but was told by Parcells he's going to play C & G. In Whitely's case Parcells obviously sees him as Johnson's backup at C in 07 unless we draft a center in 07 cause Parcells remains unhappy with both Johnson/Gurode.

BTW: Don't forget Adams turns 32 in 07 which is the last year of his 5 year contract. Obviously his performance in last 2 years of contract will determine if we resign him but I certainly like a younger option available to us -- hopefully Colombo whom I understand Cowboy coaching staff excited about this year.

This is what happens when you draft a group of solid character players, most of whom were described as "team leaders" in their scouting reports.

These guys bonded right after being drafted.

I think they were taking it serious and working together when they went to the rookie symposium that the NFL does.

I wish I had a link to that article but I was thinking that they said many rooks were going out and doing stuff during that weekend but they stayed together looking at the playbook or something along those lines.

Actually they showed it on NFL Network, how all the cowboys rookies were working out together doing some short sprint type of stuff, instead of just hanging out etc.

If anyone has the link to the article BrainPaint is talking about, could they please post it, I'd love to read it.

Sounds good about our rooks...hopefully it will translate onto the field.
