My Pam Oliver story....................

Back in the early 90's, Ernest Givins(Oilers) used to come watch our intramural Fraternity flag football games. Allegedly, his "friend" played on one of the opposing teams that happened to be our rival. Ernest would cheer him on and he got to know us pretty well.

Some time later, he invited a few of us to come watch an Oiler practice. Pam was there and was saying she could catch balls from the jug machine. Well, the first football hit her square in the chest and knocked her backwards on her back, legs high in the air. To keep it PG-rated, she was wearing a sun dress with no panties that day, we got an eye full

Unfortunately, the guys can be fat, old, dumb looking and stay on TV until they're basically dead. Where as soon as a woman starts aging and some young hot broad comes along, they are quick to want her replaced. I won't conclude how I want to conclude because this is the wrong zone for it, but I like Pam Oliver and I hope she gets a super gig.

If Pam Oliver is on her way out, I hope that she will impart some of the wisdom she has accumulated over two decades to Erin Andrews. The Richard Sherman interview was pathetic. How does anyone, who works as closely with athletes as these reporters do, not sense their temperment, especially after a crucial game? And after witnessing the physical play between Sherman and Michael Crabtree as the game ended?

I can still remember seeing the camera cut to Andrews and Sherman and immediately said uh oh to myself. That guy went off. And she looked as if he was going to punch her. Poor soul. Lesson learned I guess. Or at least I hope so for her sake down her professional road.

Pam has had a good career but unfortunately..

TV broadcasting demands younger and fresher faces all the time.

I knew a guy back in West Palm Beach who was the anchor for the local ABC affiliate there.

Had been there for like 12 years..

suddenly he was having facelifts and hair plugs added..

..trying to look younger.

Didn't work, he was let go for a younger anchor and a female at that.

So it's part of the business.
