PARCELLS: "IT'S NOT OFFICIAL" by Michael David Smith

Although his employer, ESPN, is reporting that Bill Parcells has signed a contract to take over the Miami Dolphins' front office, Parcells says he has not officially taken the job.

"You'll have to talk to the Dolphins," Parcells told the Palm Beach Post today, hours after ESPN reported that he had signed a contract and faxed it to the Dolphins' headquarters. "I'm not going to do anything or say anything publicly until it's official, and it's not official yet. That's all I can tell you."

It's still a strong probability that the deal -- which has also been reported by NFL Network and the Miami Herald -- will go down, and Parcells will take over the Dolphins. But if Parcells is going to be quoted somewhere saying it's not official, shouldn't it be on ESPN?

Parcells is scheduled to appear on ESPN today at 4 p.m. EST. Perhaps he'll give some straight answers.

So is Cameron going to be fired? I think you have to give him another year at least, that way BP won't steal all of our assistants. :D

Does he ever? The guy is as slippery as an eel. He works the press, the press does not work him.

Why would they think that BP would change personnel to a 3-4? He isn't coaching? If he is as good an evaluater as everyone says, he should be able to evaluate talent to match what ever system is being run. Keep him away from theOL and Miami should be fine.

Of course you know sensible questions bringing up pertinent facts will likely be ignored.

Good point.

Why would he need to "change" to the 3-4 in the first place? They're already running it under Dom Capers.

I think you can say that Ireland is now safe.

Why? Ireland could hire himself out to the highest bidder. Who has more money, Wayne or Jerry?

He has more input here than he would there. He just had his first Draft without Parcells and did pretty darn good.

I dont think that the GM Mueller or Cameron are going to be around next season. I think Bill will bring in the GM and then a head coach.

When Parcells came to Dallas he braught coaches and players that he had with other teams, quite a few actually. Do you think that Parcells will target any his remaining coaches on our staff scouts or front office. Or what about players that he drafted like carpenter and players that he coached in general here.

Do you think we could see a flock of cowboys personel follow Tuna to Miami?
I would expect it. Bobby Carpenter should be high on his list. Marcus Spears too. He may even reach for Terry Glenn

First time I have heard that someone took the "deal" and was still "sleeping with the fishes".
