Sean Payton and Andy Reid IMO both knew what Parcells was going to do and just gameplanned for it.....not that difficult....as I watched both games...Iwas not upset because the other coaches made Great calls.....I think we have the players now.....but why do we never throw in a wrinkle or two........surprise normally works and it Has forour opponnents consistently..... another benefit is that it keeps the players excited.....the few times Parcells has made a change (i.e. Romo for Bledsoe)...It energized everyone....hell.....he will not even blitz or allow it obviously.....I could even gameplan against this team as it is now.....I will stop venting now....Thank you

You don't want Jimmy back, Parcells coaches "not lose", who do you have in mind as a coach for the Cowboys (not including yourself).

I get the sense that Parcells has his systems...his ways of doing things...and he's had a history of doing them well.

Flexibility is NOT one of his things.

There's a saying from Bum Phillips, spoken about Don Shula, "he can take his'n and beat your'n and he can take your'n and beat his'n"

Some coaches are more able to change their style based on the talent they have...they can adapt.

Others excel at coaching within their system.

Parcells is the latter. I don't ever see him making big changes.

It is simple really.

The good, young coaches of the league have lapped dinosaurs like Purcells and Gibbs.

They don't relate well to the selfish idiots playing the game today and are afraid to make changes to their old tried and true gameplans of yesteryear.

It is a league of change and if you don't adapt, you are left in the rearview mirror.

I've suggested this time and time again and gotten flamed for even making such a suggestion.

Yes it wouldn't hurt to throw in a wrinkle or two.
Yes it wouldn't hurt to surprise a defense every once in awhile.
Yes the players would benefit from Parcells taking off the cloak of hibernation and opening up.
Yes the defense would benefit from practicing more blitz packages in practice and being more aggressive in general.
Yes. We're very predictable.

Keep on venting. Perhaps someone will hear you.

I dont agree. Jimmy Johnson once said that the Cowboys ran 8 base plays, every week and if the Cowboys executed those plays they would win every week. Its all about execution - game planning is important, playing to the strenght of your team more so. Parcells has built this team to play each week a certain way and he will stay with that plan. Its all about execution.

You save the best for the last! ;)

Maybe Parcells does not want to show what he has up his sleeve during the regular season, now that the team is in the playoffs?

Let all the other coaches throw everything they got during the regular season...let the whole NFL see what you got! Don't hide anything...just try and win the game...

Now that the Cowboys are in the playoffs...the "tricks of the trade" will come out...like Magic!

Patience, my friend...patience! The top of the mountain is the hardest to climb, and you need a good guide to get you there...

;)

I disagree,and I'll explain you why.
Remember Raiders vs Buccaneers in the Super Bowl?
The Bucs abused the Raiders.Why?
Because they knew the plays the Raiders ran.
The Raiders didn't change a thing when Gruden left and it showed.
The Bucs players were amazed to see that everything Gruden told them about the Raiders(every play, route and tendency) materialized before their eyes.
It doesn't matter who you have out there executing. As long as the other team practically has your playbook, you are going to lose.
Ask Sean Payton.

ala Sean Payton versus us this year. The New Orleans defense probably felt that same level of amazement.

If BP does not do something different on defense, this team is going no further than it got the last time they made the playoffs.

Maybe 5stars is right, maybe BP has been sandbagging, waiting for the playoffs. If not, something has gone terribly wrong - December has not been what BP wanted to see and if the Boys lose to Detroit, it will say volumes.

He emulates the D he ran with the Giants. By the way a D that had three great LBs.

Yeah, but guys your forgetting biggest thing,

Jerry Jones said Tuesday morning that say someone in organization, he didnt mention names, but say they said, well thats how ive always done it, and it worked. But Jerry says well, its not working now. Time for a change. Thats one thing about me, I will make changes that some staff or coaches may not like.

I think Bill got the point, and he was energized at Wed press conference, and he is now saying they are going to change defense some, I think you will see Bill letting defense attack some, like when the players asked them to let them in the colts and tampa bay game, they attacked and we won.

So, I think you will see some and more of the 4-3 to get a pass rush, and also after Jimmy Johnson talked to Jerry Jones this week and told him, you need to go back to 4- 3.

I also think thats why you saw Bill leave the Jets and Patriots after 4 years, he is good at building teams, but making changes, installing new defenses like Billichick did, Parcells is too stubborn to change, that maybe the reason he may not be back next year.

The Bhudda said that clinging to things we do not want to change was the cause of all suffering. But then the Bhudda didn't know a cover-2 from a red dog and couldn't put a spiral on a ball to save his karma.

Stubborn, paranoid, controlling, egocentric and fundamentalist but builds good teams are words that well describe his past and things haven't changed much, for him anyway. His game management and gametime decisions sometimes have been questionable, to put it politely.

This team continues to get stronger but still has little enthusiasm. If things don't change soon, then other changes will come into play over the off-season. BP needs to learn how to motivate people or hire someone who does.
