When was the last time Parcells did something that could be described as "brilliant"?
We've seen article/thread after thread declaring Payton's various calls as great, brilliant, genius.....
I do tire of seeing the same old same old on and off the field. His only bold move this season seemed to be when he cut a great kicker having a mediocre season only to replace him with a mediocre kicker having a mediocre season. That's really thinking outside of the box.
Defensively, watching this team reminds me of watching a preseason game. As vanilla of a scheme as humanly possible. I saw Singleton blitz up the middle once last night and darn near fell out of my chair in shock, but that was it, it happened once. Being innovative is a good thing, as is getting your best players in a position to make plays. Can anyone point to a single bold move Parcells has made here recently? And I don't consider relying on a 5th round draft pick, a glorified special teamer and an alcoholic (note, not a recovering alcoholic, just a flat out drunk) to man one of the eleven spots on defense bold, I consider it stupid.
Offensively, he finally benched He who shall not be named, kudos, Bill, great move. Of course I doubt that being a year and half behind the braintrust that is Ralph Wilson and company on the learning curve is really something that should go on the Canton resume.
