Parcells built this team to beat the Eagles. That's what I remember reading in a news artcle in the offseason. There was a quote where Parcells said something about the Eagles being the best in the division and that you had to beat them to be the best. And that was partly why he went to 3-4 scheme on defense and made the additions he made on offense.

Now, are we built to beat the Eagles? We shall see this Sunday. Won't we? As for myself, I'm not convinced we're ready right now. perhaps in the future as out team gels and rookies improve, but for now I think the Eagles are going to win this upcoming game.

I remember reading that too. I don't know how the 3-4 fits into that, but it would be interesting to know how Bill sees it matching up.

3-4 employs faster players overall, to deal with a speedy Brian Westbrook and a quick McNabb.

This team may indeed have been built to beat the Eagles, but it won't be this year.

well, for one he is hoping ware will be the kind of pass rusher to chase down a mobile qb, and second i had the feeling that burnett would be one to shadow westbrook as ive heard that he is a great coverage lb. Thinking that with ware coming around the end and big lineman breaking through the middle or lb blitzing up the middle that would really hurry mcnabb. problem is none of this is happeneing yet. Henry is a big, physical corner who should match up against big wr like TO. so in theory and on paper it looks like the team is being molded to match phillys offense, but players must execute and develop to the point where all this plays out

Yeh but in the SB, the Patriots played mostly 4-3 against the Eagles. So go figure.

when we drafted ware, i kept thinking about that big play mcnabb had where he was running around for like 20 seconds and threw it to mitchell. I kept thinking, if only we had ware last year, he would have sacked him long before he could throw it.

I think Burnett will play this week, we shall see..

This team has as much or more talent then Filthy...

However Jim Johnson makes zimmy look like squiggy from Laverne & Shirley...
Well, actually he already looked like him, and coaches like a major WUSS would...

We have NO Shot at beating filthy UNLESS Parcells takes over on D and makes MAJOR changes...

he may have said that, but right now we cant even hardly play with the sisters of the poor (ie, Niners)...

barring a bunch of turnovers or McNabb getting injured and being unable to play, we're probably going to get blasted again this week, and next week vs NYG as well

ware's got to get past the LT more than he has been, he is getting stood up and overpowered a lot. when he does get free he is right on top of the qb cause he turns that corner so fast.....but for some reason on a lot of plays it looks like he is trying to run through the LT or push him back and he just gets stood up.

i would like to seehim come wide around the LT and maybe a safety blitz inside right off the LT's backside while he is turned out to engage ware.

We're going to be destroyed by the Eagles if we come out Sunday with the same offensive gameplan we've used the last four weeks.

It's really just that simple.

The Eagles are going to focus on Julius Jones and Drew Bledsoe. Blitz, blitz, blitz and blitz some more. Since we suck at the screen play we are going to have problems all day.

Hopefully Parcells suits up Anthony Thomas and we'll have a running back that can actually catch the damn ball.

Your clearly more innovative and advanced in your defensive thinking then the $1,000,000 man/wuss employed here...Sad, but true...

ya i think ware will develop his moves. he's getting better as the season goes on against lt's, but still having problems. He'll get there, we just cant expect him to get a sack/pressure every play.

You know what ...you're right! As we speak, Andy and the Eagles are viewing film. So if you don't change your gameplan -- you may get worse results. Now, on the other hand, if you do change that gameplan, you run the risk of missed assignments due to players being unfamiliar with assignments, missed routes/patterns.

The Eagles are going to focus on Julius Jones and Drew Bledsoe. Blitz, blitz, blitz and blitz some more. Since we suck at the screen play we are going to have problems all day.

You'd better believe it! Probably more on Bledsoe than JJ. It took the Eagles 2 quarters to figure out a strong run game by KC, but when they caught on, they shut down! JJ is not a Preist Holmes (at least not yet), but Bledsoe is a QB that we've played against before. You can change offensive schemes, but QBs keep many of the same charateristics whereever they go. Bledsoe can be bated out of the pocket, he's forced passes under pressure and is bound to give up the ball when whacked in the back field.

Hopefully Parcells suits up Anthony Thomas and we'll have a running back that can actually catch the damn ball.

In that case, you'll want to watch out for Sheldon Brown and Sheppard (Brown had two picks in the KC game).

Good hunting.

Are you sitting by Andy?

PT you better hope Dallas doesn't slip up and beat the eagles this weekend or you will be eating some serious crow! :laugh2:

Conceptually, Bill Parcels may have brought a nice combination of players together that on paper are matched to defend against scambling Qb's, wide-receivers that can run the ball as well as catch passes. But literally, experience will out shine blueprint. Talent and skill levels are X factors that you can't match up.

Now turnovers, penalties, injuries, mental errors, lack of confidence, and clock management are all confounding variables that hapen. Limit those and reduce mistakes are basic things your team can do to stay close or even win the game.

Good hunting ...or not.
