I read those comments as Parcells saying you don't release Romo so he can go anywhere he wants, you work out a trade even if it isn't Romo's first choice. I think everyone would agree with that, but the Cowboys will clearly get a return in trade for Romo.

Says he doesnt think we should just release him or give him away for nothing. Thinks he has to much value and we should try to get something in return.
I agree but how do u keep him on the team with our cap problems. Then again Jerry does respect his input so maybe he'll try to do something

He's saying we shouldn't just release him or give him away for nothing but he's not saying we should keep him. He feels Romo has value and we should try and get something for him.

I'm sure most of us wouldn't hesitate to agree with what BP has stated here concerning what we should do with Romo. We're also aware that Jerry has a fondness for Romo that is somewhat untypical of most GMs. I hope Jerry finds the wherewithal to allow his man love for Tony to take a back seat to business in this matter. Ideally, the end result will prove satisfactory to both Romo and the team as well. If not, tend to business first.

im sorry but you have to trade him even if its not Romos 1st choice.

u think if Romo has the chance to beat us in the playoffs or SB he wont bc jerry was super nice? hell no. he will break our hearts first chance he gets. its just how it works in the NFL. send em to whoever gives more, not what he wants.

The only way this is going to end up real good for Romo is if he's released. If he's released teams like Denver and Houston might be willing to bring him in and kick the tires. More teams are going to be interested if he's released. With his age and injury history teams are going to shy away from trading for him or at least trading a worthwhile draft pick but if he's on the open market that's going to create more interest. It's going to be hard for some teams to stay away from him if he's on the open market and he isn't going to cost you a draft pick.

If Romo tries to hold us hostage regarding his preferred destination then all of the (I love the game) talk is bs. He will still have his money and gets to play the game he loves. Go play whether it's in Denver or a place not as good in buffalo

If Romo is traded and he doesn't think the team he's being traded to is in his best interest he'll just retire. If he doesn't like the team no dice, he'll just retire.

He loves the game but his health isn't worth going to some crap team and ending up a cripple. He's had the luxury of playing behind a great OL the past few seasons and if he doesn't like the OL or the team he's not going to play for them. If he's going to keep playing and risking his health he wants to have a chance to win a championship.

Thats a big possibilty. but as a GM i just hope jerry tries to get some compensation and not just release him.

He's definitely going to try and get some compensation but it depends on the team that wants to trade for Romo. Romo's not going to like the idea of being dealt off for some fifth or sixth round pick to a team he doesn't want to play for. The Cowboys have a dilemma because everyone knows Romo is going to be released if he's not traded. Hard to get anything worthwhile for an aging, injury prone player that everyone knows it's going to be free on the open market. Another problem is Romo's going to want some guaranteed money. He's not going to continue to risk himself without some guaranteed money. For a team to have to fork over a draft pick and guarantee him some money that's pretty risky.

Is there a no-trade clause in his contract? Or at least to a team he would agree to? I can't dig up any official info on that. I agree though, if it came down to a team that he doesn't want to play for......he will just retire.

There's too much to talk about the Cowboys attempting to trade him for there to be a no trade clause in his contract. The only leverage Romo has is retirement if he doesn't like the team he's been traded to. With his age, injury history and all the talk about TV job opportunities he has out there that's pretty good leverage.

Seems like we need a team to make a dumb decision and panic to sign Romo. (when theres no reason to) but if theres any team that will do it: its the Browns. but as you said, Romo wont go there. sounds like releasing him is the way this is gona go down. which many of us fans dont want...

Good point, if there was one, we would know about it by now. Seems like a poor contract on Romo's part to not have that clause as it would give him even more leverage.

Buffalo has a good oline with a good rb. They've been a top rushing team.

I'm allergic to bs so Romo better come with something real as to why he'd decline a trade to buffalo. I wouldn't cut him at all.

If he "just retires", how is all of that bonus money he's been paid work? How much does he have to pay back to the Cowboys for not honoring the terms of the contract he signed? I don't think it's as simple as "just retire".

Retirement is always a viable option for Tony now. The team has the option to release him, trade him to a team of his liking if there is one, or just keep him and pay the man his money. Those are the choices. The team has some leverage and Tony has lots of leverage especially if things get nasty.
