He tried to make the Cowboys what the Jets are now----smash mouth running game, strong defense, good game mgt from the QB and no turnovers
....it was said by many that the NFL has moved on from that philosophy but many of the TV analysts are now saying that it just may be alive with these Jets and should they go all the way, I would venture to say many teams will go to that model if they have the personnel to do it....

I believe the Jets, just like every team has taken on the persona of their Head Coach.

I personally don't like Rex Ryan but his cockiness and belief in his team is rubbing off on his team.

Also, I think it helped that they didn't have a week off.

Similar to the Vikings, they heard all week about how the Chargers would roll in this game and how the Chargers were undefeated in December.

i agree but parcells would have started some crappy veteran qb in the vinny T mold instead of a rookie IMO.

The 'run the ball, play great defense, and hide an average quarterback' philosophy has never been dead, it's just that if you ever let another team get a 10 point lead on you on that kind of team, you're pretty much done.

A team like that is almost guaranteed to lose if they don't force a couple turnovers and get at least one big play in their running game. Odds are you're going to have one playoff game where you don't force a turnover, your defense has a slight off game and the other team gets a lead, and then you lose.

The 2000 Ravens managed to ride it all the way to the Super Bowl, but since then they've had many great defenses including this year, but then they played the Colts who didn't turn it over enough to let the Ravens mediocre offense capitalize.

I think the Jets have a chance to win it all this year, but it's a smaller chance than these other teams.

Yeah, I bet he really loves that team in his own division doing better than the team he runs.

LMAO!! Yeah exactly. I'm sure he's really going to love them if the jets win Sunday and playing in the dolphins home stadium. It will be a hostile takeover like nothing you've ever seen before from jet fans. Listening to radio down here this morning dolphin fans are cringing at the thought of the jets winning Sunday. It would be the ultimate slap in the face for a dolphin fan.
