Parcells on Jones: "I'm hoping Julius can get back a little bit on track"

Here's a good Parcells quote on Julius Jones from dallascowboys.com. It seems Parcells want J.Jones to play smarter and get his head in the game; but he is still addament about starting Jones over Barber because he feels Barber's success has everything to do with the role Barber is playing in.

Here's the Parcells quote: "I'm hoping Julius can get back a little bit on track," Parcells said. "He missed a couple of reads the other night that looked real good on film for gains and it looked like he had his mind made up to do something else. I spoke with him about it already, trusting his reads a little bit more because we do need to get him going a little bit better than we have recently...Marion's in a good role and he's productive in that role pretty consistently. Now against New Orleans we didn't get to use him. I think I'm going to keep it the way it is."

Parcells ruined Jones in the first place...

Yet Barber has been doing a good job. Bill did not ruin Jones or any other top backs he has coached over the years.

BP has intimidated JJ into not deviating from where the play is supposed to go; hopefully he has now told JJ its OK to actually look for a hole if its not where its supposed to be.

kinda makes you wonder what would happen if Marion got more touches though, either as a 3rd and short back, or alternating between backs on different series.......

Against Atlanta they did run some more stretch plays in what looked like they were trying to get JJ to get out in to space and make people miss. The big problem I think he is having now is he is not running through first contact at all and is brought down by the first tackler time after time.

Actually Parcells said "He missed a couple of reads" which indicates to me that Parcells is telling him to stop with the mental errors and correctly figure out where to run the ball as opposed to continually making the same incorrect mistakes. That's a bit more precise then telling Jones to look for a hole and attack it. To me it seems like that's what he's doing now only to find the hole close on him once he gets there. I wouldn't be surprised if D-lines have figured this out and are baiting Julius Jones into the wrong hole.

I'm glad Parcells sees Barber every day in practice or the training room, and doesn't listen to the howls on the various boards that call for jettisoning Jones and starting Barber. Barber is great at what he does. He's no Emmitt Smith.

Can you imagine if JJ gets his head out of his butt (or whatever is causing him to not play up to his level), and he returns to his rookie form where he was juking people left and right? And along with this, Marion continues to pound it in the redzone, putting on the punishing hits like he's been doing all year?

This offense could damn near be impossible to stop.

A foresee a quick hook to JJ if he doesn't produce early in the Philthy game,,, there's too much riding on the outcome to suffer a zombie running back.

JJ had a good deal of success against Philly in the first game and that D has still been getting gashed by teams running on them. The giants had trouble but were using their backup center and then lost him too. I think BP will stay with his rotation schedule as he has been but ofcourse we'll see MBIII at the goal line and more of him in the 4th.
