From Banks at CNNSI.

• I talked to one agent within the league Thursday who has been hearing that Cowboys coach Bill Parcells is telling his former assistant, new Saints head coach Sean Payton, to go hard after San Diego free-agent quarterback Drew Brees. Parcells is said to be selling Payton on Brees as a much surer bet than drafting USC quarterback Matt Leinart with the No. 2 overall pick.

Guess that means we're not going after Brees and that we're not trading Romo to the Saints....

hmm, Parcells telling Payton not to go for Leinart? What is the Saints' OT position like? Could he be telling Payton to go for D'Brick?

The more teams who take care of their quarterback needs in free-agency, the more chance there is for Vince Young to fall to us @ 18. Yeah, I know, I'm probably just dreaming. But hey, I'm a dreamer. It's what I do...

Not bad advice. Take Brees and trade down. No since in taking D'Brick, Hawk, or Mario at the #2. Several teams would love to move up and snag Leinart. Oakland and NYJ come to mind.

Parcells telling him to go with a Proven Vet QB over a Highly hyped untested college QB? That sounds familiar.

That dream would turn to a nightmare for you. If he's on the board you hear and with the 18th selection the Dallas Cowboys select....... and its not Young.

We are not drafting him.

Why would Parcells be telling Payton what to do with his team, as regards roster moves? I don't see that happening, but that's just me.

Cutler is the highly hyped player. Leinart has earned every ounce of his pedigree.

Wish Big Bill felt the same about us.....but, we do have the other Drew!

I think Culpeper will be in Oakland next year, so maybe the Vikings will do something with the Saints.

Unless he gets a contract with huge guaranteed money, going to NO would be career suicide, IMO. Unfortunately for Brees, teams aren't probably going to want to give him large, upfront bonuses due to his shoulder injury.

I think its good advice. Chances are Payton might wear out his welcome by the time Leinart proves he can play.

Brees is going to be a Dolphin next season.
Most likely. It'd be the best move for him. The Dolphin's are on the rise.

I don't think the Cowboys want to go WR at #18.

Though it would be fun to wave as Young drops right past us.
