So, your opinion...how do you think Romo is doing on the 11 commandments?

Quarterback commandments:

1. Ignore other opinions – Press or TV, agents or advisors, family or wives, friends or relatives, fans or hangers on - ignore them on matters of football, they don’t know what’s happening here.

2. Clowns can’t run a huddle – don’t forget to have fun but don’t be the class clown. Clowns and leaders don’t mix. Clowns can’t run a huddle.

3. Fat QBs can’t avoid the rush – A quarterback throws with his legs more than his arm. Squat and run.

4. Know your job cold – this is not a game without errors. Keep yours to a minimum. Study.

5. Know your own players – Who’s fast? Who can catch? Who needs encouragement? Be precise. Know your opponent.

6. Be the same guy every day – in condition. Preparing to lead. Studying your plan. A coach can’t prepare you for every eventuality. Prepare yourself and remember, impulse decisions usually equal mistakes.

7. Throwing the ball away is a good play – sacks, interceptions and fumbles are bad plays. Protect against those.

8. Learn to manage the game – personnel, play call, motions, ball handling, proper reads, accurate throws, play fakes. Clock. Clock. Clock. Don’t you ever lose track of the clock.

9. Get your team in the end zone – passing stats and TD passes are not how you’re going to be judged. Your job is to get your team in the end zone and that is how you will be judged.

10. Don’t panic – when all around you is in chaos, you must be the hand that steers the ship. If you have a panic button so will everyone else. Our ship can’t have a panic button.

11. Don’t be a celebrity QB – we don’t need any of those. We need battlefield commanders that are willing to fight it out, every day, every week and every season and lead their team to win after win after win.

Bill Parcells also said don't take the cheese. Romeo has became a cheesehead!

1, 7, 8, and 10 need a little work

I'd say he's pretty good at 1.

He really needs to check out 3 and 11 though. ;)

To me, 7, 8 and 11 are where he's really falling down. JMO

1, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10 and 11.

I've got this wishful thinking that Parcells gives Tony a call in the offseason and reminds him of these things. As well as just remind him generally, it's up to him. To lead. To be smart. To win.

Parcells QB Commandments for Romo...

I love that Joe Simpson as much as his daughter. He said Cabo would relieve the playoff stress. He says he is my friend.

2. Clowns can’t run a huddle – don’t forget to have fun but don’t be the class clown. Clowns and leaders don’t mix. Clowns can’t run a huddle.
I can't help I'm funny. That's why I had been campaigning for no huddle offense all year.

3. Fat QBs can’t avoid the rush – A quarterback throws with his legs more than his arm. Squat and run. You're not seeing me w/o my shirt. T.O. may have trained with Jerry Rice, but he has nothing on my snap, crackle and pop routine!

4. Know your job cold – this is not a game without errors. Keep yours to a minimum. Study. Studying is for nerds. I remember this one final in college, I had my skateboard..whoops, never mnd.

5. Know your own players – Who’s fast? Who can catch? Who needs encouragement? Be precise. Know your opponent. Screw that. Who's throwing the party? Are there hot chicks? Do they know I'm Tony Romo!

6. Be the same guy every day – in condition. Preparing to lead. Studying your plan. A coach can’t prepare you for every eventuality. Prepare yourself and remember, impulse decisions usually equal mistakes. Yeah ok. I'm 67 million dollars richer. YOU try being the same.

7. Throwing the ball away is a good play – sacks, interceptions and fumbles are bad plays. Protect against those. I prefer to live by the seat of my pants. Who wants to be predictable?

8. Learn to manage the game – personnel, play call, motions, ball handling, proper reads, accurate throws, play fakes. Clock. Clock. Clock. Don’t you ever lose track of the clock. I on to this. Didn't you hear me yell, Kill, Kill, Kill? Plus. Jessica bought me a Hello Kitty watch. I'm all set for 2009.

9. Get your team in the end zone – passing stats and TD passes are not how you’re going to be judged. Your job is to get your team in the end zone and that is how you will be judged. Sure it is...My job to get my arse to Hawaii on the NFL's dime!

10. Don’t panic – when all around you is in chaos, you must be the hand that steers the ship. If you have a panic button so will everyone else. Our ship can’t have a panic button. Panic? me? Cmon. I've learned. Now when the rush comes, i throw, duck and yell. " It's up!"

11. Don’t be a celebrity QB – we don’t need any of those. We need battlefield commanders that are willing to fight it out, every day, every week and every season and lead their team to win after win after win.
Have you seen my ears? Heard me sing? Seen my riduculous lack of fashion sense? All I can say is that chicks dig a QB.

#7 - He might take a lesson or two from Philip Rivers, who throws the ball away in the gayest manner possible.

I will agree with you there ol man. To me #7 is yes and no. There are times in games when he does need to have some favre in him. But in general he does need to work on that. GET THE BALL OUT QUICK ROMO.

Just doing my best to get some spirited conversation going. I figure it's one of the many public services the mods can offer here. :)

Yeah, but the question is, who's spirit has possessed you? My money is on Johnny Walker.

Actually, I think it's a pretty good list...problem is, he always took it to an extreme..and devalued the QB position.

The "don't lose the game" mentality will only take ya so far...on occasion, your QB has to win the game.

Pennington is the perfect example. Same as he was with the Jets. When he had to step up against a very good defense, he never got the job done.

Ya feel better now? :D

I feel like the world may stop spinning out of control now. Chaos has been delayed. Cuss the man and it will be averted.

Romo doesn't use his legs enough when throwing. part of it his his style of throwing but he doesn't always use the same motion.

Just got done reading Pearlman's book moments ago.

Troy Aikman had 3 rings by the time he was Tony's age, and took himself a whole hell of a lot more serious.

Tony is starting to eat the cheese, and think this whole big-bad court of public opinion is going to tear him apart no matter what. Thats a loser's attitude. What I saw after the Philly game was a kid, that looked humbled - with nothing else left to say but boring pseudo-philisophical rhetoric to compensate for how embarrassed he was.

Win football games, and the critics dissapear. Tony Romo is just about all out of excuses.

And I may be the minority, but I know a few QBs that would've played through that pinkie injury - and any following injury that may have been sustained from playing hurt.

1, 3, 4, 6 he does an exceptional job with. 7, 8, 11 could use work. But Tony Romo is a remarkably good QB.
