Parcells to Chargers?

Chargers GM A.J. Smith and club President Dean Spanos have tremendous respect for Bill Parcells. In fact, the Chargers wooed Parcells in 2002 before hiring Marty Schottenheimer. Parcells has accomplished something Chargers ownership doesn't believe Schottenheimer ever will: lead a team to a title.

i wonder if thats even possible. me actually i would like to see that to show u people that SD success might actually be because of talent. instead of a damn scheme or how a coach coaches it.

if they wanted parcells i dont think the chargers are a team that would hurt for picks. they're young and they have what they need to be a superbowl winner now. what they think its coaching thats their problem. but damn going 14-2 isnt a very big problem. all im saying is dont be suprised. everybody knows money woes parcells rather then the love for the game. a few extra mil might suit him just fine

i think jerry would let him out of his contract if he wanted to go but i don't think bill is that dumb. after a 14-2 season if you don't go to the super bolw you are a failure and bill is not gonna set himself up for that

That's the only way the Chargers could redeem themselves. Still if AJ Smith got into an ego war with Schottenheimer, how will he deal with an even bigger ego in Bill Parcells, a guy who will start Vinny Testaverde at QB for the simple fact that he knows him.

Pete Carroll is much more their style.

Correct. It makes no sense. Bill is not a finisher, he is a builder. He also wants control, and AJ Smith is an egomaniac. Sa Diego is about the last place you could expect Parcells to end up, should he decide he'd like to coach again.
