Can't we wait until the season is over for the cut Austin threads. He is still a valuable asset right now, even as the 3rd or 4th option. His cost vs production means exactly ZERO right now. Just make a big play or two a game and I'm happy.

He was talking about the best route runner of the wide receivers and obviously Witten is a tight end.

Think he's wrong there as well....Beasley looks to me like a better route runner and Harris isn't far off.

I am just getting a feel for Miles game. He has missed so much time you just expect that when healthy his stats will be Miles Austin Level. But they are not stacking up and I am re evaluating his résumé and it gets a big downgrade. It is not what I wanted to announce but other posters on here have noticed his play before me and I now am off the Austin train. I look for him to get minutes but limited minutes. Beasley is the most consistent and Bryant while the most athletic has done better with his mouth shut during the games. I am hoping that if Dez can put a big game in soon that does not revert to being a mouthy player on the field and with his own teammates.

I don't care what the stats say. This offense looks a lot better with Miles in it than it does without him in it. Even last week, the Giants put their best cornerback on Miles when he was in the game. As long as he's not fumbling or dropping footballs leave him in there. This offense is at its best when he and Dez are on the field together. I know there is a big lovefest of Beasley and Terrance they can't do what they do if Miles and Dez aren't on the field.

And I noticed our down field blocking has been better since Miles has been out there too.

Miles's lack of production isn't about him. He's simply behind Witten, Demarco and Dez in the offense.

Haters hate... Miles is the best option as far as the #2 behind Dez as far as WR go. Williams hands are suspect and Beasley is nowhere close to Miles.
I can't believe most don't share this opinion especially after the past few weeks. But most people watch stat sheets and not the actual games. This offense looks better when Miles is out there.

Dez-Williams-Harris-Beasley is about as good as it gets. Time to move on from Austin.

Beasley and Williams are not ready for his role... and last week, he showed that he's healthly now.. I do think Miles will be gone shortly.

What role? The 1 catch per week role?

He's taking time from younger players and not producing. Miles is now a progress stopper.

I don't know if he's the next anything, but I'd much rather have him out there than Miles. Same with Williams.

What on earth have you seen from Williams and Beasley to say such a comment? I just don't get it....I mean I guess I can see moving on from Austin due to his contract next season but how can anyone not see how much better this offense looks with Miles out there?

untill harris is healthy its a silly argument. we need him. you just can't have too many weapons and while miles has had way too many injuries, he is still a good player. he may be a little rusty but down the stretch we can use all the help we can get. i suspect garrett and the staff have a better clue as to who can help and who can't than fans do

What do you mean, "come on"?

It's the truth. He's had 2 catches in the last 2 games. He isn't getting it done.

Is Beasley going to be Welker? No, but he doesn't have to be. He gets open off the line in a hurry which by itself offers more than what Miles has given over the past couple games.

What anyone thinks of Beasley shouldn't even matter. There are more than enough young WRs on the team who can take some snaps. Let them share the role.

Bottom line, Miles just isn't getting it done. Time for younger players to get an opportunity.

Miles has proven two things that Beasley and Williams havent. Hes proven to be injury prone and proven to produce.
Beasley has made a couple of nice catches, thats about it. Williams was known for having bad hands while at Baylor and hasnt seemed to make a significant improvement in that aspect at this point.
Miles, when healthy, like he seems to be now is a dangerous WR in the slot. Hes pretty big for that position and can get seperation. I feel much more comfortable with him being in the game than Beasley.

Perhaps.
I dont really care about getting the youngsters in the game at this point. I want to see the best player in. That would be Austin.

While I don't think it's "as good as it gets", they have showed a ton for the limited time they've had. Twill has showed to be extremely fast and has made some clutch catches for a rookie and Beasley just gets OPEN and makes catches.

Both are legitimately better players than Miles at this point, with the only difference being Miles has a better résumé. It's comparable to who you play across from Carr in the Jenkins vs Claiborne vs Scandrick escapade last year, but they at least got that one right. Based on production on the field the only thing keep TWill from starting right now is that he wasn't a 1st/2nd rounder.

I just see it incredibly different. I see it as players who are great in doses but if given anymore touches or targets it will end bad for this offense. That's actually what has happened with Terrance Williams. He has some great tools. He can get behind a secondary. But he shouldn't get 8+ targets and you should NEVER force the ball to him. HE's just not ready yet. Beasley is underneath guy. Sort of how the Chargers use Woodhead. He can get you the 5 or 6 yard catches to make up for the sometime inconsistent run game. But he will not demand any double teams and shouldn't. Even the Giants didn't mind putting Rolle out there on him and it screwed them over because its a clear mismatch in our favor.

Miles gets far more respect from defenses than Terrance Williams or Beasley and with Witten and Dez out there any coverage we can take away from them helps us tremendously.

Even putting aside Miles Austin's contract, Beasley has more trade value than Austin. More teams would be interested and can use Beasley than whatever they could do with Austin.

The only reason Austin is even on the team is because it would have cost more to cut him. But, hey, maybe he can help the team down the stretch and if someone gets injured, it is not too bad having Miles come in.

If you think Free's paycut-or-else was huge, wait till you see Austin's offer this off-season. A little over vet min with some incentives. And even though it is the best offer he gets, he still leaves because he thinks he is a starting caliber WR and goes to Jax or Clev for a one year vet min contract.

what in the world are you talking about? lol

What has Beasley done? Hes longest reception is 20 yards. He has ONE TD and less than 300 yards for the season all while being healthy. He cant even return the ball well.
Austin is still under 30 and has had several tremendous seasons that Beasley will never sniff. Hes overpaid and injury prone but hes big, fast and can breakaway unlike Beasley. I will be shocked if Austin doesnt end up with far superior numbers than Beasley despite his lack of playing time.

He said "receivers" not wide receivers.

This should be obvious.

And Witten doesn't run many routes. In. Out. Up the seam. the end.

Miles runs more routes and has to make more reads on the fly.

Either way this is a pointless argument.

Cole is good for the option route. That's it.

Williams at this point is a vertical threat only.

This team is better with Miles....by a comfortable margin.

You are forgetting the vaunted TE screen we've used in the past for Witten. ;)
