I just see it incredibly different. I see it as players who are great in doses but if given anymore touches or targets it will end bad for this offense. That's actually what has happened with Terrance Williams. He has some great tools. He can get behind a secondary. But he shouldn't get 8+ targets and you should NEVER force the ball to him. HE's just not ready yet. Beasley is underneath guy. Sort of how the Chargers use Woodhead. He can get you the 5 or 6 yard catches to make up for the sometime inconsistent run game. But he will not demand any double teams and shouldn't. Even the Giants didn't mind putting Rolle out there on him and it screwed them over because its a clear mismatch in our favor.

Miles gets far more respect from defenses than Terrance Williams or Beasley and with Witten and Dez out there any coverage we can take away from them helps us tremendously.

I would agree with this. The only downside to Miles is the hamstrings and right now he's healthy and the #2 guy. I really like what T will and beastly bring but they are not the same caliber as a healthy Austin. The one catch that Miles did make was impressive, he looked fast. We need Miles to break out down the stretch and into the playoffs.

I agree on all the above. We're paying Miles to probably rack up 1k yards a season.....but even if he had what? 1 or 2 catches yesterday? He didn't look like a guy that didn't belong. Just a guy who is further down on the targets list then Witten, Demarco and Dez. But if healthy? Miles is a INCREDIBLE mismatch nightmare for nickel corners. He's faster, quicker and bigger than anyone that will ever be guarding him. I guess fans have grown frustrated with him due to his hammy's. I get it. BUt let's not lose sight of what he is when healthy. Defensive coordinators sure haven't.

Miles is not going to be on the team next year considering his salary and production (of lack of)....................I think we all know that.

You see, I prefer the line-up that has as many of them in there as possible during a drive...Witten and Dez in on almost every play (perhaps dez sits for a quick breather after a long pass, whether complete or not)...but, Dez, Austin and Witten on the field at the same time along with Williams and Murray, is just excellent....who are you going to guard? Then you take Williams and Austin out and bring in Hanna/Escobar and Beasley....keep the rotation going to keep the guys fresher...the only 6 that are in on every down are Tony and the OL

Surprised no one's mentioned this yet because there are a lot of smart people on this forum, but Miles is by far the best blocker amongst the WRs. It's no coincidence that the team has run better with Miles in the lineup.

Its actually been mentioned but the blind hatred has had that point overlooked.

But you are right. He is a fantastic blocker and is pretty large for his position.

Haters hate... Miles is the best option as far as the #2 behind Dez as far as WR go. Williams hands are suspect and Beasley is nowhere close to Miles.

Yeah.

17 receptions on the season at a salary of over $6 million.

And it's all "the haters".

Excuse-makers make excuses.

If Miles is 100% healthy and has his normal burst, he's easily our number 2 WR and it's not even close. The thing is, I'm not sure if he is 100% healthy right now, because he seems to be not getting much separation.

We've already seen Williams is not a reliable #2 WR (as of right now) who can consistently beat single coverage. It showed big time in the MIN game where Dez was constantly doubled, and Romo kept looking Williams way because he was one on one. Williams struggled tremendously that game.
As for Beasely, he's great at getting open quickly in critical situations, but I think the buck stops there with him.

This is how I view our WRs when they're healthy.

1) Dez (Great hands, very physical, ok route running, can't beat double teams consistently)
-
-
2) Miles (Good route running, reliable hands, can consistently beat single coverage)
3) Witten (Stays to block often, great route running, great hands, runs with cinder blocks on his feet, can consistently beat single coverage)
-
4) Williams (Makes bone headed plays, unreliable hands, great quickness, great deep threat speed)
5) Beasely (Quick, reliable hands, gets open fast off the line, great for moving the chains and great in critical short downs)

Now with Miles not 100%, it's a completely different sorry, because we don't have that reliable WR when Dez/Witten is covered.

His timing with Tony Looked terrible during the last game.

He did.

I like Miles.

He had a good run but he.s lost too much now to play him.

I'd prefer Williams and Beasley. Or even Harris when he's well.

yes its the haters. Miserable folks... or blind.
Miles Austin is the best #2 option when healthy... which he is now.

You know what? I see a pattern with you. Ill just put you on ignore.
Perhaps over the next few years youll learn a little bit about football... Though youll still be on my (and many others) ignore list.

I personally don't know that. People guaranteed Free wouldn't be here and he's still here with a paycut. You just never know where the Cowboys are and if they can take the cap hit.

Yeah.

Let's talk about blind.

Exactly two catches in the two games he's been back, while being a complete afterthought to opposing defenses.

Any tangible numbers show that this guy is a waste so roster space, a waste of money, and a waste of time.

Fans can hold onto 2009 all they want, but 2013 Miles Austin speaks for itself, with nothing to say.

Thanks for putting me on ignore. You and everyone else who can't handle hard truths should continue to do so.

Eventually you'll have a forum of about five people who think just the way you do, censorship at its finest.

And cover your ears and ears too while you're at it.

I just don't understand the point of this. As if Miles has been targeted that much.......I can see if he was our #1 option or getting 10+ targets a game....Miles this season he's been hurt and when he's been out there he's been more decay if anything. Romo at times won't look his way. But seeing where the hate is coming from in this thread, I guess its Miles fault he can't throw to himself or that his hammy's are unreliable.

Miles brings things to the offense that no one else does including Dez. His problem is staying on the field. He can play the slot. He can play outside. He has size, speed, and knows the offense. He gets over the middle at least as well as Dez. This conversation doesn't occur unless he misses all the time he has. But that is a legitimate problem. That and his salary.

Did you see the game where Dez played the Giants? Prince A wasn't guarding him that game. He was on Miles. He's been their best corner all year.....so to say Miles is a after thought to opposing defenses? He's only a afterthought to a small minority of Cowboy fans who have this blind infatuation of Terrance Williams and Cole Beasley.

If you want a stat of how good Miles has been how about look at how this offense has looked with him as opposed to how its looked without him.

I think his only slim chance to stick around would be for him to take the 'cap hit' via a 'Doug Free' type restructure.

If he were to agree to a deal for $2 million to try to resurrect his flagging career?

Maybe then he could stick around.

lulz. youre wasting your time with that guy. Ive been through this with him before and he will cherry pick stats and then get murdered with facts that he dont want to believe on a "hunch".
Anyway this whole debate will be decided by seasons end.

Williams was terrible on 3rd down. Miles is where he should be, doing what he should be doing.
