There's no good reason why the offense shouldn't be good every single week though.

Agreed with that. Predictable play calling and overall lack of imagination on offense seems to doom us at times.

A good run defense, and better execution by the Dallas offense on first and second downs, could greatly affect that tendency...as 3rd downs should fall into more of a line as well.

But I was told over and over that this defense was good. That having an effective running game and keeping them off the field had no bearing on their effectiveness.

Most of the damage that's been done against the defense over the last six games has been on the opponent's first three drives of the game.

It's not the extra possessions that have hurt us. We've been getting run over from the beginning of games.

Coming into the season, all I was realistically hoping for was a Top 20 defense, and I thought that would be enough to make this a playoff team. Right now we're 19th in points per drive allowed. If we slip below that, all bets are off.
