TheSport78;4460248 said:Don't believe they'll select an OLB @ #14. I think they'll target their top rated defensive lineman.
If Brockers is there, I don't think they pass on him. He's raw but has TONS of potential and looks perfect as a 5 tech.
supercowboy8;4460277 said:I hope your wrong. If we target Brockers at 14, wasted pick
no because the guy is way over rated, are you new here. Because the 40 is something I don't pay much attention to. I watch every SEC game of the season. I have seen Brockers play every snap this year. He plays good, but not great. Gets no pressure and most tackles are gang tackles.TheSport78;4460283 said:Why? Because his 40 time wasn't satisfactory?

Sorry but he just isn't impressive.
If you seen him play you would know this.
His size and potential is what makes him a 1st round pick, he is a good player and can start in the NFL but will never be a great player.
Spears was a much more impressive player at LSU than Brockers was.

I am and for .99 cents a minute I will tell you yours.TheSport78;4460837 said:Am I new here? Well, I have around 5,600 posts to your 2,600 so I think that answers your question.
That's your opinion he's overrated. He's a very raw prospect but has tons of potential. I watched him play as well, and I think he's going to be a very solid NFL player. He reminds me of Calais Campbell, or Chris Canty on steroids.
That's good to know he'll be a good but not great player in the NFL. I didn't know you were a fortune teller! :bang2:

So you think the guy is going to be Campbell or Canty, two guys that weren't drafted in the first round.
So I guess you can see the future?
I don't like seeing teams drafting players on potential in the top 15 when we need players that can make an impact now. Sorry but Brockers at 14 from what I saw of him, is a reach.
TheSport78;4461294 said:Nope, I'm not predicting the future. I was making comparisons to current players in the league. So just because a player wasn't drafted in the first round, he isn't a good player? I wouldn't use that logic, honestly.
Brockers will not be a reach @ 14. He may not even be there.

Brockers is all potential; and you do not use a first on someone that is all potential.
Frankly he did not show up that well at the combine either. Mediocre in most areas.
supercowboy8;4461336 said:wouldn't be a first time a player went way to early and a team reached on players. I can name alot of players that teams reached onn in the top 15, they turned out to be good players but never live up to top 15 potetntial and fans call them bust.
Look at spears, he was called a steal in the 20s by some and now people call him a bust
Same for Spencer and he was taken in the late 1st. If you draft Brockers at 14 and he doesn't dominate or become an impact player, then he would be considered a bust.
You like him at 14 good for you, I don't
TheSport78;4461393 said:Brockers has way more upside than Spears did coming out of LSU in my opinion. Brockers would slide right into one of the starting DE spots for us. If you don't like him, that's cool. I like him. We can agree to disagree.
Would DeCastro "dominate" or become an "impact player?" No, but he would do his job for the next 8-10 years and be a very, very solid pro.
For what they would ask Brockers to do, which is primarily be solid against the run, he would be great at that. But from the games I've watched with him, he offers something in the pass-rushing department as well. He generates pressure, and that's what we need from our DL badly.
If this draft wasn't so deep at OG, I would say, yeah, take DeCastro no matter what. However, this is NOT a deep draft at defensive line, so I would consider Brockers over DeCastro, but that's obviously the team's call.
burmafrd;4461400 said:I do not know where you think he got pressure but I did not see it
TheSport78;4461421 said:It's got to be taken into account that Brockers was double-teamed almost every play. I'm not exaggerating at all.
If we upgrade the DE position with a guy like Brockers, guys like Ratliff and Spencer will look a heck of a lot better. We need someone else on the DL that commands a double team, and I think Brockers is that guy IMO.
