Teams think they have the formula to stop the Cowboys offense. Sell out to stop Elliot and make Dak beat you. It was obvious on the read option when the Cardinal crashed down on Zeke and gave up the edge. If teams keep playing that way, keep giving them misdirection with zeke and make the pay.

I didn't see the whole game, but it looked like Dak's best plays were when he got out of the pocket. I think the new game plan vs. Dak is to sit on Elliot and play contain. Make Dak beat you from the pocket.

I hope that Dak getting in a rhythm in the second half will give him some confidence now.

He has looked very unsure of himself and overly hesitant in the pocket so far this year. Sure, most would say it's a result of the quality of defenses we've faced so far - and that may be partly true. But for much of last year, and in the playoff game, Dak stood tall back there and made confident throws. I remember very few really ugly, inaccurate throws; and we've seen a lot of them this year.

He also might not have as much confidence in the O-Line right now, so he is looking over his shoulder and not fully able to concentrate on finding WRs.

Whatever the reason, I believe in Dak. I have a feeling that he will pull it together. Having success last night will propel him to do some great things.

Playcalling improved in the second half. Some misdirection with Switz running reverse action in the backfield, Toss to Switz, More play action called... Play action led to the big Butler TD.. hitting TWill across the middle, Read option... Linnehan is a good playcaller but he's stunk for 6 quarters. We've played fast athletic fronts this season and are just running right into them or going empty. Zeke is our biggest weapon as a decoy with play action to buy Dak time and open up passing lanes. We need to scheme better.

The offensive scheme and route tree sucks. Just like with Romo, this offense only goes into 5th gear when the play breaks down and the QB scrambles, allowing the receivers to free lance and get open.

It would be real nice to see some creativity with motion, bunch formations and short rubs for slants across the middle. Never going to happen with JG, so we can only hope for big breaks or to tank a season to get rid of him.

This guy hit the nail on it's head. Garrett scheme is dated. Where are the bunch routes? Wr's and TE's run specific routes based on their position. I bet that drag route to Dez caught the Cardinals off guard because he never runs that route.

"New Scheme" because 2nd half execution was better / it worked.

No really. I'm pretty sure they implemented an entire new offense at halftime. Who needs training camp?

we have seen our offense, the coaches need training camp. the players did good. yes, the same receivers that Dak had at the start of the game, and than Dak improvised and hit the same receivers.

Dak had the best statistical season for a rookie QB in NFL history, our rookie RB led the league in rushing, all while going 13-3 last season.

If our scheme sucks that bad then this must be the greatest collection of offensive talent ever assembled.

No doubt Dak did a great job of moving out of the pocket to buy some time. Rodgers does it every week, it is part of the job at QB. 1st half Dak was not getting much time in the pocket 2nd half he did what he needed to do to buy time and find his targets down field. Why this is an issue in Dallas I don't know because it does not seem to be an issue for other top QB who use their talents to do the same thing

Scheme was really brilliant LAST YEAR... vs Denver and @ AZ first half I've noticed very little play action which is where Dak excels and takes advantage of the defenses concentration on our running game. Far too often we're in the gun or empty where there's no threat of the run. Some times play action out of the gun. The Jet Sweep with lucky was a nice change of pace last year also. I hope we incorporate Switz this way and run all types of action off of it. With such a heavy focus on Zeke we must do a better job of keeping defenses off balance.

There needs to be far more plays designed for Dak to move around. Not just for his comfort throwing on the move, but also for his ability to run.

Dak looks a little shaky in the pocket. I don't think he's trusting his line. He bailed out a of a good pockets multiple times last night.
Well can you blame him? The oline has been horrendous this season.

True but then when you are looking at 2nd and long or 3rd and long no defense is biting on play action. Play action is great when your down and distance puts defense in situations where they know they have to defend both but no defense is buying a run when they know the offense has to pick up longer yardage.

Picking up a few first downs allowed the running game to get going a bit. They have to run more slants and crossing routes vs man defense. Only team in the NFL that doesn't use them. For some reason this offense is completely adverse to attacking the middle of the field. Dez and Williams are both good after the catch too, makes no sense to me.
