The Ravens D was awful, even in the playoffs. Try paying attention next season.

They won it all by getting scorching hot offensively in the playoffs. If you don't think the Cowboys have the talent to do THAT, you're simply lost. When Romo gets a clean pocket, he's as dangerous a QB as there is in the league.

Hilarious that you've already decided we don't have the ability to get hot in December 2013. As if there's no hope whatsoever in our O-line/D staying healthy and playing well.

how many times did you jump off the ledge before you realized that gravity was going to pull you to the ground every time?

did you "just get hot" one time and grow wings? :laugh2:

Until you offer any semblance of substance in your posts, you won't be taken seriously.

Show me why the Cowboys CAN'T do what the Ravens did last season. In which areas are the Ravens vastly superior, to the point where even a strong draft/rest of the offseason can't get us there?

While every team would love to go 16-0 and earn the #1 seed, recent history tells us that any playoff team can get hot and win it all. If you didn't know that, you're ignorant.

And we were 1 win from being the 4th seed in the NFC last season.

Where are all the "realists" to assure us that the Cowboys aren't even close to being a playoff contender?

Yeah, but our supposed best player choked.. "ALMOST" doesn't cut it in this league. Our team has very little chance of going to a super bowl right now.

I think this thread is a product of Cowboys fans not watching other teams. The Ravens were a flawed team. The Giants were a flawed team. This is the modern NFL. Go check their message boards around week 11. I'm sure that they had fans blasting Ozzie.

When Ray Lewis went down, I'm sure fans were throwing in the towel and hating on ownership for not getting the team younger.

You don't think Flacco has been called a choke artist. You don't think the Ravens didn't "have the talent to do damage in the playoffs because of their aging roster?"

Have a little perspective people.

The problem with the premise that we can get hot in the playoffs is that this current team never has. Since we had a legitimate chance to win playoff games with the addition of a franchise level quarterback, we've achieved only a single playoff victory, while the teams that "snuck into the playoffs" (low seeds) the Giants Ravens and Packers, have averaged about 8 playoff victories over that same period. With the exception of 2009, we have not come consistently close to playing tough at the end of the season when good teams get "hot".

Since 2006, Tony's 1st season, we are 5-13 in the last two regular season games and in the playoffs, a 28% winning percentage. The 3 teams that are "at parity with us" above, have averaged 17 wins and 8 looses each in weeks 16, 17 and beyond. That's a 68% win percentage..... two and a half times our win % over that time frame. Not remotely comparable and not surprisingly, one of Jerry's biggest keep-em-in-the-seats fantasies.

Exactly. I'm a member of the Giants' message board. They almost make Cowboys fans look positive by comparison.

This "current team" hasn't played yet. How many 2006 Cowboys are still here?

Tell me about the Giants' level of late-season success before 2007. Or the Cardinals' late-season success before 2008. Hell, that Cardinals team had no defense and lost 2 of their last 3 regular season games by a combined SIXTY-ONE points.

You mean the current team, as in Garrett's team? He has an even worse crunch time win record of 17% and of course 0 playoff victories. Numbers don't lie, it was a bad premise to begin with and a worse one to support, IMO.

The past three Super Bowls have been won by teams that were the No. 6, No. 4, and No. 4 seeds, respectively.

No. 6 seed Packers: Won Super Bowl XLV.

No. 4 seed Giants : Won Super Bowl XLVI.

No. 4 seed Ravens : Won Super Bowl XLVII.

In each instance, very few fans probably saw it coming during the regular season or start of the playoffs.

What this essentially means is that, really, any team out of the 12 teams in the playoffs can win the Super Bowl. It's not just an adage; it is very true.

Increasingly, it's looking that performance in the regular season (as long as one manages to qualify for the playoffs) doesn't matter so much as suddenly getting it together in the playoffs and going on a run. The Packers, Giants and Ravens were all surprise teams.

Until that performance that doesn't matter in the regular season includes 8-8, then this is just an excuse by another fan trying to find a loophole to mediocrity.
