so multiple neck surgeries are not as important as back surgery? Where did you get your doctors degree?

Give me a break. Any major surgery player is one hit away from being done compared to a otherwise healthy player. I was sure that you can extrapolate the idea.

Good teams plan ahead. They are trying to prepare for life after Brady. Maybe Jimmy works out maybe not but they are getting ready.
What are the Boys doing? Very little foresight. Getting fleeced in trades. Hurts watching as a fan.

Dallas has way more holes than New England. Teams like SF, Seattle, NE, have more flexibility early to pull this off. Would not have bothered me too much to take a QB later though.
Would you rather have Lawrence or Garoppolo?

I wasn't specifically implying we draft a QB but the philosophy of better FO around the league that continues to draft good players regardless of need and plan several years ahead. SF draft this year is very good example. Getting G and RB even with little current need. They do have more pick and luxury. But I love to get our FO to plan ahead instead of always playing catch up.

Yeah
That SF draft this year was a work of art.

No way this post will be received well but here goes, I think that the Cowboys do need to seriously start considering life after Tony. Consider, in the history of the Super Bowl Era of the NFL, only 6 QBs 34 years of age or older have won a Super Bowl. To take that a step further, only 2 of those QBs have done it since the Salary Cap Era. None of those QBs were on teams that were even close to rebuilding.

Those QBs were:

Bart Starr 1968 Green Bay Packers
Len Dawson 1970 KC Chiefs
Roger Staubach 1977 Dallas Cowboys
Jim Plunket 1984 Oakland Raiders
John Elway 1999 Denver Broncos
Brad Johnson 2003 Tamp Bay Bucs

Realistically speaking, the chances of the Cowboys winning a championship with Tony Romo are pretty slim. I understand the line of thinking on developing QBs for other teams but honestly, I don't buy into that. First, I'd rather have 1st crack at whatever QB we develop. Secondly, if you develop good QBs, you can and will be able to trade them for more picks. There is just no upside, to me, as to why you wouldn't want to try and start bringing along Tony's replacement at this stage of the game.

I think Brady has about 80% more games than Tony and he's three years older.
You nave sure that Dallas will invest heavily in replacing Romo in 2-3 years....maybe as early as next year. That may depend on how he does this year. If the back is more than a minor issue, then they'll go for it. If not, they may wait another year.

Tony only has 108 starts.

I kind of waffle on this; hate giving up a 1st for such a crapshoot as going after a QB but as is clear Brady and Romo are truly exceptions to the rule that if you want a top QB you have to get him in the 1st. They are talking about Wilson for sure but once again one out of how many?

Since teams win SBs, maybe you could include QBs that played in the SB vs those who led their team there but lost.
You could add three from just the last 6 years.
Warner
Brady
Manning

And then some of those made it more than once.

If you build you team in a way where you do not need a elite QB, like SEA or KC, it's easier to be able to roll with one of the round three guys.

The odds are against you heavily though. Only Wilson, Johnson and Dilfer are sub elite QBs on winning SB teams in the last 20 years.

Didn't they name an Island after him? Garoppolo Islands, strange animals all over the place?
