Watched a Jim Rome video where they were discussing whether or not to pay Dez Bryant. Guest says Dez was shut down by Peterson. I have seen where other "analysts" have said the same thing. I know Peterson is a great player but the fact is he greatly benefited from Weeden being in the game. If Romo had played all the passes wouldn't have missed their mark and they would be singing a different tune..........

The last 2 completions against Peterson tell you everything you need to know about that match up. Without the pressure of the game, Weeden finally put the passes in the right spot. Same degree of separation Dez got as the rest of the game, but nothing Peterson could do. And believe me, he was trying like it was the superbowl; it wasn't just garbage time. He was trying to shut Dez out.

LOL Peterson did not shut down Dez. First of all Weeden was a factor. Secondly, refs did not call penalties and let Peterson hack away even past 5 yards.

Peterson is the most penalized corner in the game. If he was such a top end talent like a Deion why does he need to foul so much?

This was your first problem.

First, I'll disclose that Peterson won this matchup.

But here are the things the media doesn't take into account when discussing this matchup...

1. Weeden
2. Peterson's blatant hands to the face that went unnoticed.
3. The help peterson received on a few plays.
4. And this is probably the biggest: Peterson is not a physical corner. Chippy? Sure. Physical, no. He is not the type of CB that can contest Bryant or other physical receivers. If the ball were placed better on a few of those throws, Dez likely has more recs and better stats.

But yeah Dez had a bad game. Everything looked hard for him, and I have to credit Peterson, though there may have been other intangible factors in this game for Bryant.

I saw at least two to three passes Romo would have completed early on to Bryant.

Here's a third vote for he got away with plenty of contact against Dez.

Obviously Weeden was a major factor.

the media is treating this loss as if romo played. barely any mention of weeden's horrific play. dez shutdown, arizona d shutdown our run game, cowboys collapsing.....no mention of romo.

That is because to do so would mean they would have to admit that Romo is the key to this teams success. Murray and the running game gives us a chance to break the 8-8 broken record, but without Romo, we don't even have a chance to get to 8-8. People will start to realize how valuable Romo was to this team once he is gone.

Romo is the reason jerry can pretend to be a GM and Garrett can pretend to be a HC

He's that good

Or the two backup OL who were playing... and no, Parnell is not better than Free.

Peterson is just a bad matchup for Dez. For the physical freak that Dez is, Peterson is the only corner in the game that can actually match his athletic ability and size. Dez can't outathlete him like he does just about everyone else.

Everybody forgets this one.

People keep saying that and I can agree with Bernadeau. But trust me, Parnell is playing just as good or better than Free was.

How confident do I feel about that statement? If his wheels don't like fall off this next game, I think you'll see them rotate some the rest of the season. I've already said I feel they should sign him during the bye.

Actually, when Free is not in, we miss out on the best combination on those short yardage situations; where they bring in Parnell as a 3rd tackle/TE and run right over Free and Parnell. That 4th and 1 could have been a different story if Free was playing.

That's true. But the post I was replying to was one that seemed to be affirming that Parnell is not better than Free. That's what I was addressing.
