Lose one receiver, add another: Patriots reach agreement in principle on five-year deal with former Ram Danny Amendola, per league source.

Patriots gave former Rams WR Danny Amendola's a five-year, $31 million deal that includes $10 million guaranteed.

Helps the sting of losing Welker a little bit. But still can't replace Welker's production. I'm sure NE will be looking to add another FA receiver or draft one with one of their first 3 picks.

So people who said he was he next Wes Welker in training camp that one year turned out to be absolutely right.

Former St. Louis Rams wide receiver Danny Amendola has agreed to a five-year, $31 million deal with the Patriots, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday. The agreement comes just hours after Welker agreed to a two-year, $12 million deal with the Broncos.

Hmmm...NE paid the same amount of money for Amendola for what the Broncos paid to Welker?

I'll go on a prediction that Danny misses a few games this year.

I liked him too. I like what we saw of the Beasley and the development of Harris. Hated not having the opportunity to see Coale last year.

I'm sorry, but you don't give that kind of money to a backup calliber WR.

Factor in the injury history and it doesn't sit well either.

Oh well, NE is the model franchise and they just moved on from Welker to Amendola for the same price.

Weird.

I think at this point I'd prefer Amendola to Welker, too.

Coale is a little too short, I think. And he needs to adjust his game, which I think he can do. I'm a big fan of Harris though, so I was glad to see him turn it on like he did. I have a good feeling about him sticking around and manning the #3 spot for a good bit.

Welker is a stud. He always was in his Tech days. Amendola earned it though.

Coale is actually the "tall" one - 6-0. Beasley is 5-8. Didn't look like a problem last season. Welker is pretty much that height he's just a wider framed guy.

Well for the people who say Wes Welker is a "system WR" now we'll get a chance to find out, because Danny Amendola should never get that kind of $$$
