ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the deal will go through "barring any final snags" while NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the deal will "eclipse $14 million per year." Arguably the best corner available, it is somewhat shocking to see Gilmore land with the Patriots, who usually do not shop near the top of the market.

So he says it's unusual for them. I don't follow them closely enough to know. It does show you strike and pay when you see a good opportunity/player.

Such a myth that too many buy into here

For the most part it's true.

Successful teams year in and year out do not use free agency heavily. Teams like the Packers, Steelers and even the Patriots draft well and maybe add a free agent or two to put them over the top. If you don't draft extremely well, you're not winning no matter how much you spend on free agency. The top spenders on free agency typically don't substantially improve. Of course there are always a couple teams that beat the norm.

The Patriots have to spend money, they have a ton of room. I don't think any team can compare to the Patriots as far as roster management right now.

Best CB free agent.

Must be nice to not have so much dead money going to a QB that will be playing against us.
