Look at what Sean Payton has done with a really poor set of talent. He traded for some guys, picked some of our extra's off the squad and turned them into the 7th ranked Offense and 12th ranked D and more importantly he has shocked the fans by winning 4 games.

This coaching staff is made up of two guys that couldn't put together an innovative offense or a defense that could get pressure on the QB last year for us. They both came from Dallas. NO has had 15 sacks so far this season! They also are 1.2 yards per game behind us and it is his first year.

One heck of a coaching job to turn around a franchise who hasn't won in a long time. It is not all Reggie Bush that is making that team win!

One thing that I never knew how to judge regarding Payton was we'd seemingly always open the season with a top-5 offense through 6 weeks. Then, we'd steadily decline thereafter.

Was it the players? Specifically, the quarterbacks? His playcalling? Other teams being better?

I'm curious to see if that will happen to the Saints....a hot start and a late fizzle.

Well playing Cleveland, Green Bay and Tampa help as well.

To be honest, in previous years, they would have been 1-4 playing those same teams :D You must not have had to watch them as your "in-market" team the past few years. The panhandle of Florida is considered Saints country by the NFL but not by the fans that live here.

Payton has really been aggressive on both the offensive side of the ball and the defensive side. I think his nature is to step on the throat of the other team and Bill has reined him in to keep him from taking too many risks. It will be interesting to see if it backfires on him next week against the Eagles.

I don't know how good the Saints are. Brees is competent and the competition hasn't been top flight yet. It'll be interesting to see how they do vs. the Eagles.

I have been impressed how the Saints have managed to use Deuce and Bush so effectively together.

I disagree that the Saints didnt have talent. They simply have been poorly coached over the past few years.

They made some very good moves this offseason and have They lost their best OL this year and gained a pretty decent young QB to go along with a versatile weapon in Bush, a solid although injury prone RB in McAlister, a great veteran WR in Horn, a pretty good DL, with some depth, picked up a few cast offs to improve their LBs corps.

I wonder why they were so stupid in Dallas and so smart now ..... maybe it's the New Orleans air ......

Or maybe the Dallas fans were to eager to blame coaches for player deficiencies ......

Nawwww - that couldn't be it.

New Orleans had a great offseason....you don't add playmakers like Reggie Bush, Drew Brees and Scot Shanle unless you are planning to make a playoff run.

Speaking of Shanle, going back to last year......Teams that have had him in the starting lineup are a combined 9-3, but yet we got rid of him for Carpenter???

I was harder on Payton then anyone when he was here...I thought his play calling was predictable and boring as all get out.

I was convinced it was him and not BP holding him back as much as others thought, BUT at this point watching them be very creative and watching us continue to do the same crap over and over...well I guess I may be eating crow about Payton. I need to see what happens over the next few weeks, but so far it's the same ole crap!

Philly blitzed up the middle over and over again, so where did we try and run the ball most of the time...up the middle. Where was Witten and 3-5 step drops over the middle when they blitzed???

I'm no genious, but holy crap how hard is it to set up some screen plays when they blitz so much, hit Witten or Fasano over the middle which would be wide open on blitzes, or design many 3-5 step drops.

I'm getting sick of this offense...we have to much talent that is being wasted.

Blame the oline, but when Philly brings the kitchen sink and we do not prepare for it...how much can they be blamed???

It's time for a moble QB...bring on Romo. This oline will NEVER be able to protect Bledsoe...you would need 5 pro-bowlers to even have a chance.

A win is a win. Good teams find ways to win and playing on the road shouldn't be an excuse.

Most important game?.....hmmm

You mean if the team wasn't ready to make a playoff run they would have rejected those guys and went after Joey Harrington, Charles Rogers and the 3rd string FB from Hofstra?

I agree amigo. Certainly the frustration of yesterday is demoralizing, IF Dallas plays that way on evry big game then we will never advance in the playoffs. However there is a young and inexperienced team in Dallas that has a cast of pre-maturely labeled super stars which should hold the title of potential stars until further notice along side some aging but still magnificent stars, most notably the wide out corp. Dallas has plenty of time to make a playoff push, MAYBE even capture the division crown but if the mistakes of Jacksonville or Philly are repeated then this team will see an early exit from the playoofs just like 2003. The O-Line obviously needs to gather itself after such a shellshocking performance.

Coulda woulda shoulda. Its 4 games into the season. The sky certainly isnt falling just yet. Maybe you would have been, maybe not. Who knows.

On another thread I believe --- And as far as me referring to Bledsoe playing from behind so often, I would have to look at game by game stats to see if the reason they were behind in some or most of those games is because of poor decisions made by Bledsoe. I have a feeling that many times that was the case.

But to determine anything meaningful from this tyou would have to copare the game stats of Montana, Staubach and Elway to see if there is anything fundamentally different in these comebacks.
