Dak would have been better off throwing to Shultz. He was standing all alone and could have either took it down field or went to sidelines they were posted up for the Hail Mary. Even saw Wilson running back towards the line like it maybe was a WR screen to Wilson and a run and lateral pass like the open Pollard attempt earlier. If Pollard was looking it looked very catchable on the run and nobody was around.

This won't endear Payton to the ref-blaming, "what do accountability mean?" crowd. Lol.

They should have taught to run 10 yards, the rest takes care of itself.

the ref has to be aware of situational football, just like the players. He has to know that with mere seconds left on the clock that he has to be nearer than he was…..just the the official were in the Rams game

I don’t believe it was intentional and part of a conspiracy against the Cowboys. I merely believe that a ref failed to realize the urgency that was required at this time of the game and got caught trying to leap frog over Dakota to get into position…..he should be just behind the 350 pound lineman at worst.

no doubt the Officials leadership and NFL front office discussed this prior to the Rams game and they made sure that it was done in a more efficient way……again I’m still not making excuses for the Cowboys level of play. Just critical of this one specific incident.

Don't disagree, read different things, one read said the center miss spotted the ball. sad thing is if MM taught it, so it was a 10-yard run there is no issue IMHO.

Don't disagree, but I believe the center miss spotted it according to some????? Biggest problem was how the long the run was, and if it was how it was coached that's on MM.

Yup the Center spotted it ahead almost 2 yards. Check out this video. At 0:10, you see the Line Judge at the top of the screen on the sideline showing the spot to be on the other side of the 25 and then hops forward 1+ yard after the spotting official puts it at about the 24 to try to hurry things along. If he correctly spots it, the entire team has to move back and get set before the snap. Time would have run out just the same. The refs tried helping us but Dak needed to go down around the 30 to account for all that could happen.

handing it to the center was flat out ridiculous. Look for the nearest ref and toss him the ball. They should’ve took their 2 shots at the end zone, but no shot at all seemed like the better route! lol

He could’ve looked for a lateral near the sidelines?

Lol. Too many of you have a Payton man crush. What Payton said about the play was a no brainer (except for Kellen Moore) to the average football fan.
Exactly. The 49ers were playing sideline defense. Which made their coverage lighter. Thus Moore should have had Dak toss it for the win. He had 14 seconds. Enough for two tosses. Hell, even us females seen/realized that lol.

For the great majority of the game I can agree with that but when there's 14 seconds left and he knows it's his job to spot the ball and the offense is trying to clock it the circumstances alter the case and he should have made it a point to be closer to the ball so time would not run out

That last play was a synopsis of the Cowboys offensive futility this season - good start, but couldn't stick the landing.

he was walking 30 yards behind Dak at the time of the slide. Which was obviously the most efficient way to handle it according to Blandino! lol
