I was there at PEP RALLY and have a Crazy Question. Who was the Band in the Tent (Bar)? My wife and I had the greatest time ever and for the life of me we can't remember the name of the Band. The Lead singer had hair that stood straight up about a foot long. Looked like he put it on an ironing board and starched it.

Dont remember seeing them

longshot guess: Stray Cats:

Still got my Superbowl XXVII 8 oz Coca-Cola bottle. I'm surprised the liquid is still in the bottle. 25 years later....Check the avatar.

I didn't even go to my high school pep rallies unless it was for a sport I played and I didn't have a choice.

No,I don’t live there and wouldn’t have gone anyways even if I did. I’m more lethal. I was the kid who stood outside the ‘9ers facilities by myself as they all got on the bus for The Catch game though, saying I hope they lose. Then did it again for their trip to the SB with the Bengals and some player (Dan Bunz) got off and told me he’d kick my butt or something to that effect. Naturally I flipped them off as they were pulling away, and they in kind did the same to me. Now that I’m much older and more mature...if we beat them in a playoff game,I’d be waiting at the HQ entrance in Santa Clara afterwards with a sign...”Know why I’m laughing? Because you’re all heartbroken!!! Looool!!”

Being a Cowboys fan was tough in the 80's, especially while I was in college where living down the hall in my dorm was the most obnoxious Steeler fan who used to throw every Cowboys loss in my face and unfortunately they had a lot of losses during that time. When the Cowboys beat the Steelers in 95' I would have paid good money to find that schmuck and rub it in his face but college had long since passed and I was never able to find him.

Fast forward to Jan 14, 1993. I was 28 years old and still hadn't gotten over the catch but the Cowboys had started to turn it around so my buddies & I couldn't pass up the chance to go to the pep rally for the biggest game since that dreaded defeat.

Surely I'm not the only one here that attended this pep rally, chime in if you were there. It was the most raucous Cowboy crowd I've ever seen, probably due to the fact it was a free event and loaded with rabid blue collar fans that rarely, if ever, got to go to the games.

Fun times

For some reason the archive cut off that last sentence of the article, I don't know why

PS..mods this article was pulled from the Dallas Public Library archives so I can't link directly to it, thus the cut & paste

Band-wagon fans...:muttley:

I was at Cowboys training camp in 1992 before anybody thought they were going to win a Super Bowl and definitely before they were en-route to the 2nd one.

I think it was in McKinney and he used to have these awesome pep rallies there every year before the divisional or wc games and would have players comes and all kinda of fun stuff....got caught in the main barn where the stage was by the entrance and got to meet nate newton...my mom still talks about shaking his hand....

Super cool experience as a kid....back then we always seemed to win and the question was more about by how much.....now being mid 30s I am as die hard as can be....hope my 2 kida get the same experoence at some point
