No chance. Not enough balls for that to happen

Maybe not but I think Beasley and Witten will get a lot of checkdown stuff this year and I expect our offense to be on the field a lot because of how bad our defense will be.

If Beasley could grab 80 catches and somehow become some sort of a redzone threat then he may be worth a gamble. He's near the bottom of my list right now for guys I would take but someone I will keep an eye on.

Guy has an incredible first step and can stop and change direction on a dime. Only thing he is missing is top end speed.

Tommy MacDonald was never bigger than Beasley is now. Jackson isn't bigger. Gary Clark. Wes Welker was very slightly bigger when coming out and Amendola about the same. And you can't go by 'official' heights and weights either. McCluster is slightly taller but just as thin.

Tommy MacDonald is the nicest guy you ever want to meet (and he is very small). I met him years ago and he was so friendly. He even insisted that I put on his HOF ring. I have a pic somewhere.

I'm a big Beasely fan. He is incredibly quick and has great hands. His 3rd down catch against the vagiants was huge last year. I hope he remains a Cowboy for many years.

Great story. I've never met him but I've heard he is a great guy, too. Great receiver. It's frustrating playing against someone bigger and taller and having them catch the ball over you but it's just as frustrating trying to catch water bugs, too.

Yeah, i mean there isn't much risk involved. But i dont see the upside..

Dez will have near 100
Witten will be 70+
Murray might get 50

Thats already 220

Add in twill
Escobar
Dunbar

Not nearly enough left

That is true. He just lacks a gear to get away from defenders. Good hands and route running.
stockier?

cole beasley: 5' 8" 180
wes welker: 5' 9" 185
tavon austin 5' 8" 176
desean jackson 5' 10" 178

whew ya, bunch of stockier there! lol

I think people mistake his sheer weight as relevant to the point and discount his build which is really his main disadvantage.

You can take a good look at his overall frame and see he is "smaller". The biggest thing with him as that he lacks the ability to bull through a tackle. Basically when he is touched, he's down. Welker for example is different. Bigger legs and thighs, even though there is only five pounds difference. Jackson is closer in frame but he has the speed Beasley lacks.

The Cowboys had a smallish receiver at one time a few years back that I thought was pretty good. I think he plays for the Pats now but got hurt.,I forget his name now but I would have liked to see them keep him.

I had to preface that with "per Dez" so y'all wouldn't roll your eyes before opening the thread...lol

It's no secret. I have had a lil man crush on Bease since day one. It's nice to see Dez recognize real too. ;-)

OXNARD, Calif. – Earlier this offseason, the Cowboys made it clear they were going to try different ways to move Dez Bryant around in the formations. One of those moves involved him sliding inside to the slot.

But even more telling than trying to get the team’s best receiver in different matchups was how they handled one Cole Beasley in that scenario. See, Beasley’s best spot for his size and skill combination has always been the slot. And for the most part, that’s where he’ll be the majority of the time this year.

Click this link for the rest of the story.

The defensive backs have talked about him being a fly because he's so hard to keep up with ... which makes me wonder if he won't end up taking some playing time away from Terrance Williams in two-receiver sets if he shows himself to be what Dallas' players are making him out to be.

I do think Williams has the ability to be Alvin Harper to Dez's Michael Irvin, but if that doesn't develop, then Beasley might be an option to create more mismatches when teams are trying to double Dez. It will be interesting to see how this develops.

The kid can play, and I like him on my team.

However, I would forever be careful not to build too much of the offense around his contributions, because he's an injury waiting to happen. Teams will play him very differently this year and force him to the middle. Big hits await in there.

It's a risk taking undersized players at any position. I've been a big Beasley fan since he showed up. I hope he can stay healthy because he's huge in this offense. I worry everytime he takes a hit though.

Wes Welker, Steve Smith although he's bigger now, Darren Sproles, Dexter McCluster, DeSean Jackson, Tavon Austin (early still), Danny Amendola, and Lance Moore now. The Smurfs were excellent. Steve Largent was a little taller and 10 lbs heavier. Gary Clark. Alworth was 6 ft but only 180. Tommy McDonald was a great WR. Santana Moss. Randal El.

Steve Smith stands apart from those guys. All those guys combined don't amount to the athleticism and talent of Steve Smith in his prime. Little guy that played like Calvin Johnson.

So much worry. The guy is getting it done, the fact that he's smaller than average makes it remarkable.

Why worry?

If Beasley can't get it done when the games are on there are a number of taller more "physically gifted" receivers on the squad to take his place.

If the guy works.... What an "undersized" but more likely unexpected weapon.

It's really hard to predict how much he will play. When Escobar or Hanna are in the game, Beasley is likely out. They also have a package with Dunbar and Murray together where Dunbar is basically a slot WR. Lastly, anytime a FB is in the game, Beasley is likely out then as well.

He's missing some ability to get off the LOS clean but there are problems created for the defense in doing so. Esp if he's put outside where he corner has to come up. That causes some compromises for the D and opportunities for the O.

Remember...it's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog!

And Beasley is a freaking Chihuahua with the bark and bit of a Pit Bull! You cannot play with the big dogs if you don't have some puppy skills.

Let's give Romo 600 att and a comp rate of 65% which is 390 completions.

Dez-95
Witten-75
Williams-45

That's 215 which leaves 175 more completions.

Murray got 53 last year. I did last years completions to the RBs a while back and I've forgotten how much it was. Dunbar has 13 the last two years. I don't know how much Linehan will change that. Let's give them 75 although I suspect it will be closer to 100; maybe more.

That leaves 75-100 completions to the rest. Most of that will go to Escobar, Harris, and Beasley. Throw a bone to the rest.

There is generally one or more players who either come out of no where or they get a chance to play more snaps and they step up. One of these guys will be a new(ish) WR this year IMO. Not much on that kind of speculation but I'll throw this slow hanging curve up there. That person(s) will take some away from a player or two and a bit of that will be due to injury.

So there are a few completions for someone to grab (pun intended).

When I look at him I just don't see a little guy. He's a mini-MDJ. I love his talent and his will and attitude.
